I had it a few years ago at the brewery in Cleveland. It’s a good beer for a cold day. I would recommend it.

Kicked off the advent calendar with Prairie Bomb!
It was damn good. Vanilla was really strong at first, but the coffee and smokiness of the anchos came to the front as it warmed. Off to a great start.

Hmmm... Octoberfest is one of my least favorite types of beer, but I'll have to give that a try next season. I've seen it a few times, but never tried. Does it have that metallic taste that a ton of octoberfest beers tend to have?

If I'm drinking something malty, I'm going malty... doppelbock or bust.

That's a more and more common thing at local breweries. I believe they do yoga and then all hangout after the yoga is over and drink beer, but I've never been to one so I don't know that for sure.

Haha, beer is a fantastic recovery drink! Make it a gose, and you're getting those electrolytes back too.

I found that to be pretty underwhelming. It's not bad, but there was nothing about it that made me want to drink it again. In terms of Murican Octoberfest beers, Ballast Point Dead Ringer is at the top of what I've tried.

I guess in fairness it's also not an uber exciting style... But just offhand I'd take Penn or Fatheads over it for sure.

I mostly just drink out of a snifter glass for everything, but I have about 20 other glasses that I occasionally use for that style. I mostly just like collecting different glasses. I tend to stick to mostly high abv beers so the snifter works well for just about whatever I throw at it.Opinions here on different glasses for different beers? I have a pretty big nose, but a pint glass is more than wide enough for me to catch the desired aroma.

Glassware variety is overrated for scent/taste, we are human not hound. However, if having a Pilsner in a Pilsner galss, or whatever in a tulip, or in a yard, or in a pint, or in a whatever makes you happy then you will enjoy the experience more so go for it.

Had a couple beers today... Bells Amber Ale. Not too exciting, like the style... though it did seem to have a bit of a roasted taste to it that was unusual.
Also had a New Holland Black Tulip... this is a tripel that has some hefe flavors mixed in (such as the banana). It was good, not great, but definitely interesting.
