Went to New Trail Brewing Friday after running my brothers camper up to his site. Had their Broken Heels NE IPA. Delicious

Spent three hours yesterday with Kelsey Grammer talking and sampling his new Faith American Ale and IPA.

I’m not usually an IPA drinker but it was not bad. Not a dank, hazy beer though I know some prefer that.

Levante Tickle Parts has been my staple lately. Really rich double IPA.

I saw somewhere Yuengling made a mango beer

I assume @eddy has already killed a case of it.

Really cool place. If you go back up that way, DEFINITELY check out Therapy Brewing. If you like relaxing while drinking beer, there is no better place. Beer is fine, but its the best place to drink a beer in PA

That's the problem with assumptions. There is only one mango choice.

Thanks for the Rec. Will check it out next time we go up to his camp.

Huh...TIL that Kelsey Grammer owns a brewery. That's pretty cool. I wouldn't have thought he'd jump into that market after his Viper accident and Betty Ford stint, although it was 25 years ago.

Is this available in PA? I looked real quick but didn't see any info.

He’s just starting to get out there. I know he’s working through Black River distribution in NJ.

He was on a tour to visit outlets (bars and liquor stores) and I happen to know the right person and got to literally sit next to him while he was talking to the the owner and general manager. We walked the Boardwalk before hand and got a private tour of the Steel Pier in Atlantic City. Didn’t decline any photo requests. Talked about the beer, the Frazier reboot, and he loves history.

The backstory on his Calico Man IPA has a great background that I hadn’t heard before.

I'm sorry...is this literal? Were you actually at his brewery, or is he touring? Was he nice? I need to know more!

I was invited to join his tour at a particular bar in AC. Literally sat on his left side while we ate and chatted about the beer and the history behind it.

As noted above, we met before the tour and walked the Boardwalk and he was reminiscing about visiting the Jersey shore when he was a kid. Steel Pier was closed but they saw him and one of the owners came out and walked us around.

Anyone got any recommendations for west-coast style IPAs available around Pittsburgh? Seems like everybody east has massive boners for hazy/new-england style now, and I'm completely over it. Seems like Stone is the only widely distributed game in town for a reliable option for that style.

Voodoo's Non-Trademark Infringement IPA is (as I recall) a West Coast IPA and is pretty decent.

I know 60 minute from dogfish head calls itself an east coast IPA, but it's more west coast than NEIPA.

For things that are actually classified as west coast IPAs... Fatheads headhunter is a great option. Ballast Point Sculpin is nice as well. Union Jack IPA from Firestone Walker is likely available. Maybe Green Flash palate wrecker?

I don't know if they're available in the 412, but some of the better breweries out here are:

818
14 Cannons
Ballast Point
El Segundo Brew Co
Highland Park
Firestone/Walker
Angel City
Smog City
Three Weavers

And up north there's:
Russian River
Cooperage
Fort Point

If you want to check their websites and see if they have distro to your area.

I believe Firestone Walker is available in the area now, so Union Jack is an option.

Any surprise Oktoberfest picks out there this year? I know Great Lakes is always reliable, but variety is the spice of life.

I get GL every year as it's always good and it's consistent year to year. I also always get Sierra Nevada as it too is always good, but changes year to year. This year's is quite good, as expected.
