That's what I figured. Had a bit of a placebo effect last night, so was like...wait, that can't be right.

Also, may I direct you to the Brew Gentlemen's Deep Breakfast coffee milk stout. Delicious and only 4.2%
I have yet to try a Brew Gentlemen's beer. Yes, shame on me. My beer game has really gone downhill during the pandemic. Haven't even brewed a beer in a long time. Had to give away some of my hops as they were just sitting in the freezer.

How was the sweetness level of said stout? I tend to find the low ABV stouts to be too sweet for me. They must use a yeast that can't handle the higher ABV content and leave all the sugars behind.

tl;dnr:

A cup of coffee typically has 64-272 mg per cup (depending on brew method), with a standard drip coffee clocking in around 150 mg per cup. They estimate a coffee stout has about 50 mg per 12 oz beer.

Founders measured their breakfast stout and found it contains roughly 5-10% the caffeine content of a cup of coffee.

I don't drink caffeine. Love the taste of coffee and can confirm that coffee beers make me jittery. Pizza boy sunny side up being one of the finest examples of this.

I can see if you don't routinely partake in caffeine, even a little bit will make you jittery. Those with a tolerance won't notice the difference.

Honestly I think it's less sweet than some higher abv breakfast stouts I've had.

Can confirm I am nowhere near a regular coffee drinker. Probably not even an occasional coffee drinker, ha.

My daughter and I went to Troeg's Saturday night before the Bears game. Troeg's is the best brewery experience in the region IMO. Fantastic food, great selection of beers, nice walking tour, store, etc. Not to mention everything else there is to do in Hershey.

I am a big fan of their scratch series. I tried this and it was fan-frickin-tastic:

Also got my annual case of Nugget Nectar.

Love Tröegs. One of many breweries I'd love to visit eventually.

Grabbed a mix pack from Wicked Weed this weekend. It’s been around here for a while, just never have given it a shot. Most of them are quite good, but this “Dr. Dank”… It’s can says “Dr. Dank’s delectable botanicals are in the dankest of flavors that expand the mind, body, and palate. This hybrid strain of delightful darkness delivers an elevated experience.” And under it says it’s a “Malt beverage brewed with hemp seeds and natural flavors”.

The taste is pretty much a fruity/citrusy new IPA with weed flavors. I have no idea if they just have terpene isolates that they added or if the hemp is used to add the flavor, but I’d imagine there isn’t any THC, might have CBD? I dunno really. Either way, I don’t find it to be a great combo on the palate, but I’d imagine some might like it.

In my experience, WW's strength lies in their sours. At least it did before they sold out to AB-InBev. I haven't had anything from them recently.

I had Lacto-Kooler tonight. Stuff was surprisingly good. Tasted more like candy than beer.

Best part about traveling to Texas for work, other than I have a ton of friends I get to see, is the Karbach Hopadillo.

120 is good but best consumed in small doses. Honestly the pour I would get at beerfests was usually enough to last me til the next one. I do have one aging in the fridge though for a special occasion.

Unrelated, did anyone try the new Broken Skull lager yet? The IPA was actually pretty damn good, so hoping the lager is at least solid, even if not my favorite style.

My tolerance is not what it used to be. I had a Stone Sublimely Righteous Black IPA last night (which was delicious by the way) and a Nugget Nectar last night and I feel like I partied until 2am

Yeah, I'm at the point where it's no more than 1 high abv beer for me in a night Unless it's the weekend, then I might get crazy enough to go all the way up to 2.
