I was just thinking a 6 (or 7 if you don't want to keep what you brought) person beer exchange would be perfect. Everyone bring a 12 pack of beers, then everyone gets 2 of each one. Might be something I'll start up.
That's what we did for our work exchange, except we'd do it by case.

Usually we'd have 6, 8, or 12 in the group, which makes for easy division. But as the exchange got bigger, it eventually hit 18 cases and may have even hit 20 once. In some cases the one bottle in the exchange wasn't bad, but there were some cases where I wanted to try a second bottle.

We do this every year at an annual fraternity reunion weekend - everyone brings a different beer. We do a beer bracket on Saturday night, and whatever is left over people take home samplers on Sunday. It results in having some beers in the fridge a while, such as last week when I finally opened a Rogue's Mocha Porter that was utterly delicious after aging almost a year.

Most people just brought 1 kind of beer. That makes sense though. It allows for us to try the same things and talk about it with each other. Only me and 1 other person brought a variety. The problem with bringing 1 kind is that 3 people brought 2 sixers of Sweet Baby Jesus.

Our beer exchange started with a reply all email, which was fine when we had a small group.

Once it got beyond our initial group in IT (which was eight people), we moved to google docs which worked for about a year before people started getting lazy and not filling it out.

The worst. I want to live in a bubble during The Sour and The Funky week. Either that or lick the floor at day care tonight to try to get a bug now as opposed to next week.

Instead of waiting at my office for 3 hours for my wife to pick me up I'm going to go to Dogfish for happy hour with a bag full of bottles. And it's a Tuesday. I think I'm an alcoholic.

A couple bottles of Three-Eyed Raven have been scored on my behalf. Won't get my hands on them for awhile, but now I don't have to worry about it. :thumb:

Ok...this is just a tremendous beer. 9.5/10; maybe higher.

Ten fidy just doesn't do it for me, although I think it's more the style. I Like it ok, but RIS's in general aren't my thing.

Opened the last of my Blackout Stout. This is pushing Old Rasputin for favorite stout. Just so good.

Expedition stout by bells is still my favorite with oak aged yeti a close second

If I had to choose two beer styles to drink the rest of my days it would DIPA and imperial stouts

I'd say those would be my two as well... If I were allowed to throw in a 3rd, it'd be saisons/farmhouse

Had East End Black Strap Stout tonight.

I thought I had never had it before, but my Untappd begs to differ. Honestly don't even remember having it back in September, but it's a fairly solid stout.

Often times when I'm at a place that has Two-Hearted on tap, I'll check to see if there is a solid stout on tap as well. Then, if the place allows mixing, I like to get something that's like 3/4ths or 4/5ths Two-Hearted, and the stout on top to finish it off.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, Ten Fidy is probably my favorite stout to do that mix with. So good.

Some people see it as a big no-no, but I love mixing beers to see what happens. Obviously you want to do it the right way and I've always limited it to two beers, but black and tans are great.

It's a bit heavy handed with the lemon flavor. But, I don't think it's really trying to fit squarely within the style. I do find it to be quite refreshing.

I keep a Guinness spoon in the house for just such a thing. Though usually requires the heavier beer to be from a pressurized can or an extremely fresh growler.

Maybe I'll try mixing a Ten Fidy to cut it some.
