IUP just lost in the DII semifinal. Great run.

Cooley is Coach of the Year. Well deserved. Love what the guy has done at PC. Needs to hit the portal hard and reload.

Championship Monday. Hopefully the traffic from Atlanta to Augusta isn’t terrible and I can settle in a good amount before gametime. Vegas puts it at Kansas -4 and I can’t pick either side. Gun to my head, I’d go KU. Better pick is the over of 152 as I can see this game being a track meet. Perhaps KU can keep hitting 3s like they did vs Nova. On the flip side, KU’s perimeter D was not very good vs Nova and allowed a lot of good looks at 3 but it took the Cats a while to knock them down. Inside, can McCormick and Lightfoot get Bacot in foul trouble early and out of the game? I don’t think they will and both tend to play a bit soft for my liking. The difference is gonna end up being depth and guard play as well as how Carolina handles Ogbaji. My analysis seems to point to taking the points with Carolina but I just feel like Kansas will win it by 6-8. Hopefully the game can be as good as Carolina-Duke.

Kind of feel like it will be like last year where Gonzaga played an all time classic vs UCLA then couldn't hack it vs Baylor. I like KU big which means you should absolutely take UNC and the points.

Forgot how late this thing starts. I probably won't make it past halftime. Kansas 81-73.

1st half analysis:

--As expected, McCormick & Lightfoot are soft. They get the ball in the post and they can't take it strong and McCormick walks every time he gets it.
--Kansas had trouble rebounding the ball against Nova. The fact that they made everything at the other end masked that fact. Carolina has been KILLING them on the boards.
--Carolina defense is swallowing up every opportunity that Kansas tries because UNC is so physical. That said, KU guards have missed 4 layups and they've had 3 other looks that turned into turnovers because the modern player refuses to take a 10-foot pullup jumper but instead kicks it out or lobs it somewhere.
--Bacot is a freakin beast on one leg out there. First player since the Tourney went to 64 teams to have a double-double in all 6 games.
--Another problem for Kansas -- Caleb Love is a 2nd half shooter. Ruh roh.

Unless Kansas finds another gear and starts running it up and down the floor and trying to catch Carolina before they set their D, this is going to be a runaway in the 2nd half. Carolina is running circles around the Jayhawks at the offensive side of the floor and they've been more aggressive and getting to the foul line.
