Yeah, Stallings wasn't a salary dump, it was "if we want to get value for this guy, we need to trade him now".

Whether or not that is based in reality or not, is unclear (was value actually obtained, and is Stallings just going to be worth less as he gets older, more expense, and closer to FA).

They sold Stallings at his peak imo, I don't think he provides much more for much longer. Whether they got enough to justify actually doing that, ehh

Oh for sure. And confirmed by this perez signing. They had to have perceived the deal they got for Stallings as a slam dunk. Guess we'll find out if that guy can be a serviceable starter.

Why sell him though? How about get some value by actually having him play baseball?

Kuhl officially non-tendered. Newman signed for 1.95M. Reynolds and Stratton tendered

Given the salaries in MLB I disagree. Dude was the batting king of 2021 Spring Training.

I didn't watch the games so didn't have to suffer his offense but on paper you'd hope he could split the difference from his 2019 season

Good read on the mlb landscape.

He makes a really good point about the pirates and orioles near the bottom. There is something that is cruel to the fans about a massive rebuild sequence with no timetable. When you continue making no effort to improve the big league team, and actually keep making it worse, are you actually rebuilding?

Also, it is hard to win in baseball, especially when you aren’t one of the 5-6 teams built to compete each year. I do think 2016-2019 they were trying, NH, under financial constraints, made a ton of terrible moves, then nutting hired this guy and let him gut the entire organization. Now, it just seems like he’s letting bc use the team to play baseball mogul or whatever simulator people play now.

Did they remove the Teams link on MLB.com?

(Quick, who retired in 1998, did not respond to an interview request sent through the MLB Umpires Association. Mondesi, recently sentenced to eight years in a Dominican Republic prison on corruption charges, could not be reached for comment.)

Are they sure this is recent? Why do I feel like this was 2-3 years ago?

Early 2022 draft rankings, Green not the shoe-in, also looks bat heavy. Also, top of the 2023 class already can be seen on that link. Looks like a better class (at least at the top).

So big brain GMBC extending the tank (at least) one more year to reap those rewards.
