I thought that the backup QB Actually wasn't terrible. Sure he couldn't move the ball, but cmon, you know Franklin did not have him prepared. We're lucky if he has the first team O prepared.

Nah, he was terrible. Zero accuracy. I do agree that it's on Franklin that our backup QB is high school level.

This was where my mind was as well. They moved the ball on the FG drive when they went up-tempo but other than that, it was a disaster. What's even worse was when PSU got the ball with 9:00 left and up 20-16, they took an entire minute off the clock because they kept snapping the ball with 25 on the play clock. I was thinking as soon as Taquan came in the game that it was time to grind it out and work clock and try to win the game with 17 points, which with this defense was very possible. Problem was, because they couldn't get a first down, the defense was constantly on the field. And I'm going to take this opportunity to blast the offensive line and their lack of development. Other than pass protection, they have been a disaster all season. There's no excuse that guys with that experience can't generate enough of a push to get a running game going. The first couple of false starts I could get because of a new person working the cadence. But after that triple crown of suck, they should have either had the silent count or figured something else out. That was embarrassing.

Also, the fundamentals on defense continue to disappoint. Castro-Fields whiffs on a tackle at the sideline on the drive that ended with the 20-16 FG. He makes a simple play at the sideline, it's a minimal gain and we see what happens. Instead, it allows the receiver to go all the way inside the 10. Brandon Smith (#12) is going to get a targeting foul sometime this season. He's the worst fundamental tackler I've ever seen in a PSU uniform for someone who is touted as a great talent. All he wants to do is light people up and that often has led to missed coverages, overrunning a play, and whiffs. Every time he's in on a play, I'm waiting for the targeting flag.

BTW @genoscoif, the bomb to Dotson wasn't terrible but they were going against the wind and it got held up and knocked off course. Same thing happened when Clifford threw the same pick in the first half.

Still can win the conference. At least if you're gonna lose one game, lose it to the team in the other division so there isn't a tiebreaker issue. If Clifford can get back for Ohio State, they still have a chance to win the conference.
