Ceiling being the key word. And Herbert is only gonna get better. Claiming someone's absolute best they can possibly do being a 2nd year QB isn't really outlandish. I'm not saying he'll reach that

I guess the first QB off the board's ceiling should be slotted at like, Daniel Jones? Makes sense

Yeah, 1st round QBs have the ceiling of game manager. Checks out.

Here's Pickett being compared to Burrow as a prospect. Homers, though, I assume.

I hope he works out as a starter... but I feel pretty confident that he never even sniffs Herbert's year 2 production (not many do)

All very well thought out points here. I'm not sure how much you guys have actually seen him play. My non-expert scouting report would be big arm, very good deep ball, sees field well, can move, but also takes bad sacks, guilty of spinning out of the pocket too much vs stepping up into it. To me, he's very boom or bust. I don't see much game manager in him. I think he's either going to be a top 10 type QB in his prime or flame out in a few years

I agree with this. High ceiling low floor. Ran a pro style offense for several years too which helps with the transition to the NFL.

Yeah, it's not a question whether I've seen him play (we're on page two of this and I still don't have the guy's name committed to memory). It's that the claim was made that he has the potential of a guy who has 9300 yards passing through fewer than 2 full seasons as an NFL starter. That's a bold statement.

I heard a siren going off in here…

Pickett sucks.
Pitt sucks.
Pickett’s NFL career has a ceiling of Christian Hackenberg.
Psu 4 lyfe.

I mean realistically what's his ceiling in the NFL? I don't know if teams desperate for a quarterback are going to go there early and leave a high ceiling lineman on the board for example to get the next Taylor Heinicke
Take the best parts of Dan Marino, Tom Brady, Warren Moon, Eagles QB and Jake Plummer and add them all up and you get like half of Pickett’s ceiling.
