Without fail, every time I write a policy paper, CONOPS, TTP, whatever, I will spend 25% of the time producing content and 75% of the time fighting Word to get the numbering and TOC correct. It's endless, fiddly ****.

Not specifically related to this aspect of your career, but have you ever looked into an extension course on MS Word for lawyers? I think some CLE outlets like PLI even offer classes (if pared down) on how to use the software in the context of legal drafting, which might have some carryover to your IT job. They aren't cheap, but could you get Uncle Samuel to foot the bill for the schooling? There are resources that range in price and quality from you-get-what-you-pay-for-free all the way up to hundreds of dollars for college-level credit hours. I did it almost ten years ago, and it made a tangible improvement in my work life.

Our training budget has been completely slashed for this year on account of our operating on a $48m budget deficit. But thanks for thinking of me.

On a flight and a woman walks to my row, row 15, and asks where row 12 is

I just…I don’t get people sometimes

So you're saying she didn't know where row 12 was, but she did know she was at row 15?

Word isn't too bad on tables of contents. I use my heading hierarchy as the entries for the TOC. Word's interface for creating tables of authorities, however, can eat a giant bag of dicks. It has sucked for literally decades, but Microsoft has never done anything to improve it.

I’ve seen complaints about cheap items in stores like WalMart being behind glass cases before; which takes place mostly in black neighborhoods. It’s complex because it’s not like these stores do it BECAUSE it’s a black neighborhood but because they likely identified they items are at high risk of being stolen at that particular store

anyway, I went to WalMart today because I need new underwear and…was annoyed when I found out that all the underwear/socks at this one, which is in West Charlotte (aka a black neighborhood), was behind glass. My god was it a pain in the ass to get an associate to come over and struggle opening the electronic lock. Then they had to escort me to the cash register. For $20 worth of Fruit of the Look boxer briefs

annoying as ****

They put the most stolen items behind glass. Underwear. Deodorant. Baby formula.

The one on Wilkinson? I am shocked you survived

My wife got one of my sons Costco boxer briefs. He's a grumpy teenager but raved about them (he raves about nothing except 21 Savage, YoungBoy, chicken tendies, and pizza) so much that my older son got some. They are both Costco underwear evangelists!
