I use the self-checkouts for all trips, even when I have a lot of groceries. But the local stores where I shop have two types of checkout—the small "express" ones with just a couple bag holders to put your stuff, and full-size lanes that are basically the same size and length as a staffed checkout lane. I don't see any reason to not take a full cart of groceries into the self-checkout lanes that are designed to process a full cart of groceries.
It's fine if they have an actual belt. Not if it's just the tiny little platform that's meant for maybe 10 small things. This lady the other day had a cartful at the tiny platform.

There's a neighborhood dog that is trained to take a dump in our yard. Every time I go to cut the grass, there's a pile of dookie in the same spot. I swear if I catch the culprit, they're going to get a new, brown-colored paint job on their front door.

When the grocery store has 2 manned checkouts, each 4+ customers deep and 12 self checkouts, less than half of which are being used, I'm going to a self check out even when I have a cart full. There's nothing challenging about bagging as you go and putting the full bags into the cart or on the floor (if the cart's too full). If someone can't do a job that's usually filled by a HS kid, they probably have bigger problems in life.

I have said it before, but flip-flops should not be an acceptable substitute for shoes in normal society. beach, pool, shower (dorm/gym/etc)... sure. Grocery store, bar, restaurant, office... No.

Are you referring to the Giant Eagle style self-checkout lanes that have full belts and all?
Correct. The two Giant Eagles were I regularly shop have both styles. I believe each one has four of the full lanes with belts, and four of the mini stations. I've always viewed the mini stations as being express lanes, and I think there are also signs saying 15 items or less.

This only really enrages me when I see parents that let their kids wear flip flops all day every day. We were at Disney World and I couldn't believe how many small children were wearing shoes with no support. That's a fast ticket to horrible foot issues when they get older. Put your fckin kids in proper footwear.

I've been wearing flip flops since May. The only time I've put my sneakers on is to mow the lawn. I bought a pair with good support and my feet have never been healthier. No sweat, no stink, etc.

I agree with your interpretation. Small stations are express. Long belts are for whole cart.

I wear Crocs swiftwater and the clogs from approx April through September and nothing else. So comfortable. I can usually find them for around $25 and have never had anything but a joyous foot journey.

Living in South FL, unless I am at work, or doing an activity that might require a little more foot protection, I'm in flip flops all year long. One of the things you learn is to buy a good quality pair made by a premier brand. I wear the same pair of Nikes, just keep replacing when they wear out. Has as much support as decent running shoe and your feet stay so much drier and cooler.

Upcharges for "preferred" seating (favorable location, no actual benefit like additional legroom) on flights. Get **** with that ****.

Yeah, I'm about 8-9 months out of the year, with a quality sandal...opens beer on the bottom, real classy stuff...I can play organized-intramural levels of football and baseball in them and also jog, if need be...I'm hyper-functional in them...

I have the same pair. Game changer, and Jim can go suck on a lemon

Jim is a lemon. So he can suck himself.

I've been wearing these or some variation of MIck Fannings (I had the flask version, it gets very hot...hot vodka...yeesh, that can also go suck itself..) for about 12-15 years now...they're great.

Scenic little towns with charming little shops like Mrs. Franchise likes. They never have enough parking and by the time we find a spot I am grumpy and not in the mood to pay for the trinkets she wants.

Fortunately there’s usually also a decent beer bar.

I haven't worn flip flops in a few years but this is a weird hill to die on. I don't see a problem with them. Not my style, give me sperrys or Toms in the summer, but no reason they would be frowned upon
