Yacht Rock is awesome! I bought my car 3 years ago and up until last week someone else was clearly paying for my XM Radio. one day on the way home it was just disconnected. called them up and got a package for basically $5 per month but like Blackjack, I refuse to pay for the streaming.

Yacht Rock Radio bids bon voyage to channel 18. But don’t worry! You can still find us on channel 311 on newer satellite radios – or, continue enjoying the smoothness when you listen on your phone using the SiriusXM app.

We get the channel in Metz's Jeep - I don't know if that qualifies as a "newer satellite radio" - or he just has a higher tier subscription? No clue.

Using my lifetime SiriusXM sub with my new echo will probably be the primary use of said echo.

just use spotify radio. I found that most of those Sirius stations played their same rotation of songs, defeating the purpose of having it, imo.

Mrs Tif's car is a 2018 Volvo. I'm sure I want to share this "Channel 311" news with her.

The TIL thread got me thinking about Pomplamoose, which got me thinking about how annoying Indie female singers are. Why does every female indie singer under 35 have that incredibly annoying affectation whenever they sing. This six second parody sums up the style nicely:
And this is a fantastic example:

It's hipster, annoying crap.

I share a synergy of hate between that and mumble rap. I understand why people like it. Fifty years ago someone canned his own **** and called it art; some things never change.

That's awful. Someone started doing it and had success and they all jumped aboard. Is it vocal fry related?

Lorde related?
You know what really grinds my gears...
Eh, I kinda dig Lorde. Then again, the sum total of my knowledge of her is like four songs, all of which are ten years old.

I listed to it again and she sounds like a warped version of Alanis Morissette in that "you aught to know" song.

I think we finally found common ground in music Tif. I only know a few songs but like her too.Eh, I kinda dig Lorde. Then again, the sum total of my knowledge of her is like four songs, all of which are ten years old.

Now might not be the best time to mention that my gateway drug was a cover of Royals by The Struts.

**** Overstock.com.
I ordered something on Tuesday, 12/18. The shipping calculator said that it would arrive on 12/21. I paid $30 for express shipping.
My order status is still listed as "processing". I called their useless customer service line and their response was basically "if it says processing we don't know where it is".

Did you leave them a good review or something? You need to get a handle on your powers.

When people on crappy cell phone connections are giving me their random email address and say a letter with an "e" sound but I can't make out whether it's b, c, d, e, g, p, t, v, or z. Then I ask them to repeat it and they again say only the letter. Come on, people, B as in Boy, C as in Cat, etc. It's not that freaking hard.
You know what really grinds my gears...
That should be B as in Bravo and C as in Charlie.
Schools should spend a week teaching kids the NATO phonetic alphabet. Put it in social studies in like 3rd grade or thereabouts. It would significantly improve communications if we all had a uniform reference point, such as being able to tell people your name is Tango Oscar November Yankee and everyone knows that spells Tony.
