I don't mind female or gay or whatever leads. I enjoy the new Star Wars. Hunger Games. etc. What bothers me is having to take already existing male leads, ones that are established, and changing them into females, or minorities, and whatnot just to make the change to pander. And I never said it was in all movies. But it seems to be occurring more and more. It's just retarded IMO. Come up with something original with a female or minority lead.

They wanted to do a Ghostbusters sequel with the guys for years (maybe decades) but couldn't make it happen.

The Ocean's franchise (which was also a remake) was dead. They tried the female take to breathe some life into a dead franchise.

Now if you'd be arguing that Hollywood is creatively bankrupt and should come up with more original content (for anyone), I'd be on board with that. But they want to make money so they keep making sequels, reboots, re-imaginings, etc. because it gives them a leg up on marketing rather than starting from scratch.

that would require Hollywood coming up with something original at all. everything is a re-make, re-boot, taken from a book, taken from a play, taken from a real-life incident. there are very few original ideas in the film industry anymore.
