this is the group that I’m talking about: https://mycreditsummit.com/credit-card-debt-statistics/
in the income section, that 32% of people who make $290k are in debt. Don’t act like that’s all people living paycheck to paycheck

Just because you make alot of money doesn't mean you know how to manage money.. hency why lots of pro athletes end up broke. There is no one size fits all answer here, but your concept of not understanding why is weird to me.. there are a plethora of reasons why that can happen.

Like I know what they spend it on and that they’re bad at money. I don’t understand how you can be that ignorant of that kind of thing, especially when you have the resources available to help you with it
same thing for pro athletes who drive drunk (like Henry Ruggs)

I’ve been called three times and texted five times today with people trying to buy my house. Leave me the **** alone.

I'm imagining the scene from The Count of Monte Cristo where he has the wagon of gold to buy the estate.

don’t remember the first time it happened but google, at least on my phone, will occasionally push the “images” tab after a search to an overflow menu that you have to scroll over to. That’s so **** annoying
here’s what I mean. Images is just right of the trailers tab but I’ve done other searches where the images tab was at least 10 items to the right

The HOA of the townhouse plan i live in decided a month ago that, because either they changed insurance or that it was too costly to pay for the change in insurance, grills were no longer allowed to be on decks.
So now we have to leave our grill in the garage and wheel it into the driveway any time we want to utilize it. It's a floor down from the kitchen, which is attached to the deck.
No vote was held for this, just an executive decision. **** HOAs.

I would never purchase a home subject to an HOA. I'd rather move to Nancy Pelosi's congressional district in San Francisco than live in an HOA in Pennsylvania, and my hatred for California is well-established.

Perhaps, but in Karen vs. Gables HOA (1974), it was pretty clear that the HOA is binding upon close, so they have the authority to regulate grill placement.

I'm not going to check that cite because I want to believe that it is Karen.

I’m VP of our neighborhood’s HOA board
I’m going to tell if your grill remains on your deck

My annoyance is more with the whole "the 3 or 5 of us on the board are going to make this decision with 0 input because we're too cheap to find an alternative solution".
I think most people here would've gladly paid a couple extra bucks a month for the convenience of being able to walk from the kitchen to the deck for grilling.

The HOA president also lives next door and is quite the nebshit and a Karen so I'm sure that's adding to my annoyance

My BIL is dragging his feet with the leak test on my AC, so I called the company that installed the system asking for a quote. They left me a voicemail stating that there was a $95 service fee, and that the technician would tell me how much everything else would be while he was on site.
How about no. Just **** tell me how much the leak test is, because I know it's not included in the service fee. That was quite literally the only purpose of my call to you.

This our first experience with an HOA and it's been interesting. We technically don't have actual homeowners serving on it yet, because the development is still under construction. So we have a property management company doing most of the work right now.
We aren't allowed to have a basketball goal unless it can be stored away, out of sight. My kids are pissed about that, and I know that the portable ones would never get put away unless I did it and would end up falling on one of the cars.
We got a notice about a month ago that our trash can was visible from the street, but our neighbor next door never got a letter despite his trashcan being opposite ours and clearly visible.
The big issue - and I almost took this to the legal thread here - was a line in our covenant about maintaining (ie cutting/edging) grass around the retention pond. We had a survey done and our property boundary is well clear of the easement to the retention pond, as is every lot around this pond. Yet, the language was such that we were in charge of maintaining that little strip of land (despite it being owned by the developer). This made no sense, so I left it alone (and waiting for another love letter from the HOA). Then yesterday, I noticed the grass around the pond had been cut. So I guess they are taking care of it for now.
But yeah, we won't do an HOA again.
