We have a landline because of 911 reasons, but we don't even have a phone connected to the jack. The receiver base and handset are on my nightstand, but the power cord isn't connected. I went through the initial setup of the mailbox and such on the day, but it has been unplugged for 2+ years now.... I wonder how many voicemails we have.

The Google Chrome app on my phone updated and it moved around all of the options in the menu (new tab, history, bookmarks, etc).

I didn't know whether or not to put this in the movie thread, but I just don't understand why some films are encoded in Dolby Atmos but never actually make use of that. Jungle Cruise is the most recent example, with not a single scene actually making use of the object-based technology.

Seeing emails on Monday that were sent on Sat and Sun asking for answers "this weekend". Sorry, I don't check email on weekends because I'm not working weekends unless prior arrangements have been made.

Here's how a conversation on our reference chat service went with one of my summer term students.
Student: Professor
Me: Yes <name redacted>, how can I help you?
Student: Why is our course page locked? I am trying to go in and finish a few assignments.
Me: The class is locked because it ended two weeks ago. And no, I won't accept assignments two weeks after final grades were due.
This happens several times a year, despite all deadlines posted to their syllabus, emailed weekly, and reminded inside the course management software when the class ends.

Yeah, I was gonna say the two forms literally have opposite meanings.

Additionally, bias vs biased.
You have a bias. Bias is a noun. You cannot be bias.
You are biased.

My wife and I just switched our disposal company. Some interesting happenings going on in Lancaster County. Eagle Disposal, one of the largest providers, has been completely off the rails for the last six months. Constantly missing trash days/recycling and chalking it up to "staffing issues". Sorry, that excuse isn't going to fly when you are still charging us for a service. The final straw was Monday, when once again neither of our bins was emptied and we have received no communication as to why or when they will be.
A bunch of people have reached out to the state attorney general's office and I have been in touch with a journalist at LNP. It's inexcusable. @Faftorial, have you heard any rumblings about this or do you have them too?

“hey we’re on the Internet where it’s completely fine to use shorthand for everything including but not limited to ‘ur’ instead of ‘you’re’ and ‘fwiw’ instead of ‘for what it’s worth’ but for some reason we’ll pedantically scream about ‘re-sign’ vs ‘resign’ despite it being abundantly clear what is meant through the context of the usage”hey i am using the wrong word but it annoys me when you don't take the time to figure out which word I meant to use

My town contracts with some company and charges the residents and I don't think it's Eagle Disposal. They either didn't show or didn't take the trash once a few months ago. They will only take bagged trash from cans -- loose trash (which I never leave but the df downstairs does) is left in the can.My wife and I just switched our disposal company. when you go to a business's Facebook page and see "oh, they've got a website. great!" so you click on the link and it takes you right back to their Facebook page.
