Half-assedness that makes my life harder.
I just spent 8 hours shoring-up my deck, and I still need about 8 more. The previous owners put the joists parallel to the house instead of perpendicular for half of the deck. That alone is bad enough, but they only used 2x6s for the joists, which led to a great deal of bouncing and sagging. They also attached joists and "rim joists" to 4x4s with deck screws instead of lag bolts, leading to a couple of them being split. There are also 2x6s that I assume are supposed to be rim joists that literally only attach to the 4x4s - they support absolutely nothing.
Last week, I replaced some outlets and rewired some runs in my garage. There are/were electrical cables going into metal junction boxes that were not clamped/secured, non-grounded runs, and exposed hot wires outside of the wiring nuts. Very unsafe.
I've been known to half-ass things at times, but I'm not going to put anyone in danger. Both of these issues were dangerous.

I don't know if there's a statutory definition, but 'guidelines' are to not split if traffic is moving more than 50 mph and to not split with a greater than 15 mph speed differential. In practice, the latter is the only one that really matters. I see splitting at 80 mph all the time.
In other words, my disdain is still squarely with cyclists.

A website I frequent for work recently changed their favicon, and it looks really stupid in dark mode themes. At first I thought it was glitched out and stuck on a permanent 'loading' loop.

I just noticed two thin scratches on the screen of my iPhone XS. I never drop it, and have never placed it face side down (case would prevent the screen from touching). So much for “Apple’s best and strongest screen yet”. Right in the center of the **** screen, too.

So that capo...I actually sat next to him at a Sounders match in Seattle one time when I sat in the ECS section. That's just...not for me. They take themselves so fcking seriously, it's hard not to laugh at them. They 100% think that they are the most important factor (including the players) to helping the team win. Insufferable.

When somebody's incoming call ringtone is the same as your alarm ringtone. I want to climb over the cubicle walls and smash the snooze button.

My only real gripe about Spectrum is they deactivated their bandwidth meter. Not that I'm worried about capping out, but it would be nice to track that.

Yup. This was the closest I have ever come to calling it in. In Shaler you need neighbors consent and a permit.

Same. The only reason I had an issue with it yesterday was that they started after my daughter went to sleep, and it wound up waking her up late. Her first day back to school is today.

There is a jag somewhere down that hill that shoots something off for stuff like Steelers wins of Pens playoff wins, and every other minor event. I can't use a .22 in my backyard to plink at the chipmunks eating my wife's tomatoes; but that dickbag can launch a mortar whenever he wants.

That’s going too far. Winning the Cup/SB? Sure. But a simple playoff game? Come on now.

Target, as of late. I scan everything we buy with they Target app so that I can price check and also add any discount that is available. On Sunday, during checkout, I noticed that a number of items scanned higher than what was listed. I call over the clerk and she tells me that the Target app is now showing the online price, not the store price. Makes no god damn sense, given that I am literally using their own app to scan items in their own store. She says it’s not an issue and just takes off the total difference, since they price match with their website. Dumb, but whatever. The last issue was that I bought a box of cereal that was 2 for $5. Should cost $2.50, no? Nope, that’s another change - now those x for $x tags all mean you must buy x to get the deal. He my wife run back and grab another box even though I’m sure I could have just had her give me the lower price. Nowhere on the tag does it say ‘must buy 2’ like you’d see at virtually any other grocery store, which is misleading.

So this was today. They are seating a statewide investigative grand jury to meet once a week for 18-24 months - in Pittsburgh.Jury duty.
Ain'tNobodyGotTimeForThat.youtube
As they were doing the 'raise your card if these questions apply to you' part, I realized I would probably be excused due to the small size of my employer. Later in the questioning, they asked about hardship and probably a third of those there raised their cards. At that point, the judge asked for volunteers and got way more than enough so he dismissed the rest of us.
Actually sounded like a really cool opportunity, but there's no way I could do it now. If I was retired, and it was in Erie, I'd probably have volunteered.

I have wanted jury duty for 20+ years. Had one summons in like 2001; the bus broke down on the way in, I called in and told them what's what, they said they had enough in the pool for that day and I should just call in the remaining days of the week to see if I was needed. I was not.

Jury duty should be 100% volunteer only.

Would you want to be judged by 12 people that had the time and inclination to volunteer for jury duty?

imo a person viewpoints on and behavior during jury duty are a good way to judge their character.

Do you want your country protected by people that had the time and inclination to volunteer for military service?Would you want to be judged by 12 people that had the time and inclination to volunteer for jury duty?
