The Max app somehow managed to be worse than both the HBOMax and Discovery apps.

PRT buses that drive around with their four-way flashers on all the time. I've noticed that something like half of the buses downtown do this. But it means that I as a driver have no idea whether that bus in front of me is just waiting for the light like I am or whether it's disabled and not going anywhere.

I think the UI and general organization is better than HBOMax. I’m annoyed that it no longer uses the appleTV native video player though. The Max app somehow managed to be worse than both the HBOMax and Discovery apps.

They're not referred to as "PAT buses" anymore?PRT buses that drive around with their four-way flashers on all the time. I've noticed that something like half of the buses downtown do this. No, they recently wasted a bunch of money to change the name to "Pittsburgh Regional Transit."

Area, regional, what's the difference. No, they recently wasted a bunch of money to change the name to "Pittsburgh Regional Transit."
Did they give a reason why?

Rebrand. Wanted a name that tied it into the city and also apparently people were confused by the “port” part thinking the buses lead to a river or port.

The City Paper says, "officials emphasized the need to shed the redundant maritime associations for a name that better reflects a land-based urban transportation system."
I think the change was stupid and a waste of money. First, the "Port Authority" name had been around for 60 years, and no one was confused. Second, there are other "port authorities" that run stuff like buses and rail lines, probably most notably the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs seaports, airports, bridges, tunnels, train lines, and bus stations. Third, the new name is harder to say because it switches the abbreviation from an acronym (an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words that is itself pronounced as a word) to an initialism (an abbreviation consisting of initial letters where each is letter is pronounced separately). It's a lot easier to say a "pat" bus than a "pee are tee" bus.

https://www.wesa.fm/development-transpo ... al-transitIt’s the first name change for the Port Authority in decades. When choosing a new moniker, the agency wanted to do away with the word “port” because it implies riders were heading to the rivers or a port that doesn’t exist, Kelleman said. She pronounces PRT as “part.”
Duh. It’s obviously “part.”

I always assumed it stood for Pittsburgh Area Transit.

Should have changed it to that, then they could have left the logo and everything and people would.... still have not been confused.I always assumed it stood for Pittsburgh Area Transit.

I mentioned this in the Randomness thread, and couldn't agree more. Once Apollo goes, I won't bother touching Reddit on mobile, which is most of my browsing. Not happy about this.

Same. Been using reddit is fun for years and it's so far beyond the trash official app.

I’ll still use old.Reddit on my laptop but yeah that’s maybe 20% of my Reddit use. Apollo was a godsend after they destroyed Alien Blue. The official app is ad-tastic and no way in hell am I paying for Reddit Premium.

It’s only a matter of time before old.Reddit is shut down.

Most of it is my cynicism but also I don’t think they’re able to use ads as much in old.reddit

Is there a mobile browser version of RES?

Had to rent a U-Haul this week. I have never dealt with worse customer service. Ever. Walked into the office, guy didn't even look up at me. Said "hey, how you doing?" in case maybe he didn't see me. Didn't even look up. Fortunately, they do check in on their app, which I needed help with but fortunately I figured it out before I had to stab the guy to get him to pay attention to me. Once I was checked in, I went back in the office to get the key. Guy throws it on the counter, points at me then points at the key. No words.
I guess maybe he could have been a deaf mute.
When I returned it, the place was just totally closed and locked up tight at 2 pm on a Thursday. I just left the truck and dropped the key. Apparently they figured it out because the bill was as expected.
