That ad for "Top War" on YouTube mobile with the dumb girl "reviewing this stupid fake game" and then going on about how amazing it actually is. Horrible acting.

They won't rent stand alone trailers though. Otherwise, yes.

Our Home Depot does Penske rentals. It’s an easier experience than U-Haul. Our U-Haul is a mountain of paperwork. They take references and they actually call them

One of the weirdest interactions I’ve had

“Add I need the name and phone number of someone that knows you”
“Like…anyway? Wait what? Why?”
“As a character reference?”
“Uhh ok. mrs meow 555-555-5555”

Then the woman turns to her phone and dials it. mrs meow picks up. Woman says “this is so and so from Uhaul. We have a meow m meow looking to rent a van. do you know meow m meow?” I can hear mrs meow go “uhh yeah”. “Oh great thank you”

We haven’t been back

What happened to Rhyder trucks? I used them a few times and they pulled the old we only have this bigger truck available even though you reserved the smaller truck.

this sounds like the worst thing ever. And it’s funny how they don’t realize how easily faked the references are

I can’t speak for Mrs. Franchise but Momma thinks I’m the greatest.

People who call repeatedly but don't leave a message. I hate talking on the phone and I don't pick up from numbers I don't know. Leave a message or eventually get blocked.

so an EDM club just opened up and it’s only a couple minute walk for me and my brother and SIL. We all love EDM so it’s gonna be a favorite spot for us. The first time we went we were planning on getting a VIP table but the cost was “low” enough ($500 alcohol minimum for 10 of us…no brainer) that we ended up doing it

We went for the first time without getting a table last night and…ugh. I’m not a huge fan of live music generally because I can get claustrophobic in big crowds and this was very much that. From like 11:30 until close it was a battle of positioning like we were an offensive line or something. So many people just very annoyingly or dickishly pushing their way through the crowd; and then, even worse, some people pushing their way through the crowd only to stop in the middle of our group. It’s difficult to enjoy the music and experience when it feels like you have to constantly passive aggressively push people back out of the way who are trying to force themselves into a spot

needless to say, we make way too much money to be one of the general admission peasants, so we likely won’t do that often

oh and for context the DJ last night was Nora En Pure who was amazing

I'm in a big EDM friend group. I dragged people (the ol drunken "trust me on this one") to Nora one time many years ago at a festival (they wanted to see DJ Snake, shut up stupids) and everyone was like "holy ****, you're very right" and now she's a staple in our world. It's fairly rare for me to "discover" anyone within my friend group because they care about that way more than I do, but Nora is one feather in my cap...

Re: bad crowds. Yeah, that's really dependent on venue and artist usually. I'm extremely surprised that a deep house artist would have a pushy crowd...so it must be the venue/people. Like, when I saw Tiesto at EDC Orlando, I was straight up Scott Stevens'ing people at points just to maintain my space...it was not enjoyable (though Tiesto ****** rules) because of the crowd. Some DJ's have really bad crowds, really **** fans (Bassnectar, for instance) and sometimes venues just invite that kind of behavior...so you gotta feel it out.

I am here for EDM talk though for sure. I have to imagine that I've seen more sets than everyone here combined at this point haha - though, I'd love for someone to give me reason to doubt that.

Are either of you old enough to remember when people could smoke in clubs?

EDM is not for me, but I hated coming home from club shows and smelling like an ashtray.

Clubs, bars…. I vaguely remember when you could smoke on airplanes. That was a great idea.

If you transported someone 40 or under back to, say, 1992… smoking wasn’t what it once was but there were plenty of places you’d still go and smell like it even if you hadn’t smoked.

You don’t get that good ol’ ciggy smoke and stale beer smell much anymore.

Oh yeah, all the bars had them. Most states didn’t have age restrictions until the late ‘80s (PA made it 16 in 1988)
