You know what really grinds my gears...

Postby shoeshine boy » Thu Nov 30, 2017 2:31 pm

Source of the post I supervise several Millennials/teenagers for a side gig and they regularly text me after midnight about scheduling requests.
Do they think that's normal?
apparently. I was brought up that you didn't call (or nowadays, text) people before 10:00AM or after 10:00PM unless it was an emergency &/or you were related to them.

My phone stays downstairs at night.

They can text all they want.

The ringer on my phone is almost always set to silent unless I'm expecting a call and is set to DND from like 11pm to 6am.

Also.... had blood drawn today and the lady who did it while she got me on the first prick jabbed me good enough to make it look like I have a speedball bump on my arm haha.

Dear dentist office: We are early in our relationship. I've been in twice to patch up a chipped tooth, and just Tuesday I had my first cleaning in your office. And I really appreciate the text reminders for upcoming appointments. But sending the reminder for my next cleaning six months from now just two days after I made the appointment might not reap you all the customer service benefits you were hoping for.

Why can't manhole covers be even with the surface of the road?

Solicitors who knock on your door after 9pm. Never mind the fact that it's against township code and that they likely didn't have a permit, but that's far too late in the evening.

I don't answer my door period, unless I know someone's coming. That solves that problem.

We used to get LDS missionaries, Jehovah's Witnesses, and various salespeople visiting us at all hours. I came home from work at 8:30 at night to see my wife and toddler watching a Kirby vacuum demonstration. (My wife usually doesn't put up with such nonsense, but they offered to clean our carpet for free  )

I had a Jehovah's Witness join me in MY BACKYARD while I was gardening to tell me about their religion. "Oh, I saw the garage was open and no one answered the front door! Could I give you a copy of the Watchtower?"

That could work, but I'm worried it will ruin the imagery.

I think my FIL has a heat gun. Maybe I can nab that off of him.

Same here. It's depressing the number of solicitors who ignore 'no solicitors' signs.

A former boss was suing her ex-employer for wrongful termination/sexual discrimination, and her attorney was asking for my assistance. I provided a written statement, but was honestly fearful of a retaliatory termination if my involvement became known. He wanted a follow up statement, and I was unresponsive for about a week. Then one night at around 9:45 pm we had a knock on the door: It was her attorney. We had a frank exchange about the propriety of said visit and CA trespass laws, and that was that.

I unplugged the doorbell in my apartment in December of 2012, just after moving in.

I love our small development, but that is one of the downsides of living in one. They park their beat-up, shtty van at the end of the street, and then unload their passengers. I was trying to put my daughter down for a nap a couple of years ago, and that was probably the nastiest/most angry I've ever been with someone at my front door. After he tried to keep me there for a fourth time, I finally told him that I am taking care of my daughter, and to kindly **** off.

The worst. Especially the window people.

I had a bible thumper try to come through my fence gate one Saturday afternoon. Of course, my dogs went bananas and he asked if I could put my dogs in the house so he could talk to me about our lord and savior. My response was something not nice

I really have to wonder about the conversion rate on these religious door to door people: like how many people answer their door and say "Sure, I'd like to join your church! Why, I'm glad you stopped by!" As a member of that church, do you really want members via door to door solicitation?
