Yup. Happened to me too, near the Pittsburgh Zoo. Turning right in a right-turn bypass lane. Car in front of me started to move, so I looked left to make sure it was clear and then started to move myself. And ran into the back of the car, which had decided to suddenly stop.I think everyone has had that happen to them.

lol, yep. Had some dipshit in Jersey stop while merging (after he started), and I had started to creep up while looking left myself. Bumped him, though the only damage was to my own bumper.

I think the sheer amount of stupidity posted in the political thread caused him to want to take a break.

I sometimes browse through the idiocy in that thread, and have maybe 5 total posts in there. I'd say 5 of those 5 were non-political.I think the sheer amount of stupidity posted in the political thread caused him to want to take a break.

It's not worth posting in, in the current state.
In other news, a tree fell on some power lines down the street, and we've been without power since 9pm. PECO came out and assessed the damage, then left to do who knows what. They just showed up, so I'm hoping to have power again soon. I've got my fridge on my generator right now, and while I know the food is spoiled (second god damn time this year), I now notice the temperature reading is wrong on the fridge side only. Hoping that it's as simple as a $15 thermistor.

Our local power company - maybe even some of the Charlotte area posters' as well (Duke-Progress) is actually excellent in repairing downed lines and so on. We get text messages when power may be out in our area with ETAs on repair. I think with all of the tropical activity in our area over the last three years, they have the repair workflow down to a science.

aka "Prelude to a Canning."
(Yes, this could be in the job thread, but as I'm currently mired in creating one, it's definitely gear grinding.)
Oh, your employee is a complete deadbeat and you have repeated instances of such deadbeat-ery? Please, spend days of your life typing and retyping this crap into a Word doc and have repeated uncomfortable meetings so that we ultimately can do what you wanted to do 60-90 days ago.
Management. Is. For. Suckers.

Ops team performance Windows Updates today on our QA servers. Normally, there's no issue. One of the knuckleheads running with it today decides to patch both nodes in multiple clusters at the same time, effectively bringing down our QA Citrix environment. Clusters have multiple nodes for this very reason, dingus.

post-vacation I have a new one for this thread.
returning from Hawaii we had a red-eye flight non-stop from HNL to ATL. across the aisle from us was a couple and their toddler. the parents allowed the toddler to stay up the entire flight watching cartoons on the seatback video system. this first part was not the issue but as toddlers do she kept jumping up and down on the seat while laughing and squealing. because of this I was unable to sleep during the entire flight.

I had noise cancelling headphones and I could STILL hear that kid giggling and squealing.

I use a urinal at work probably three times a day. I’d say 33% of the time, it is unflushed. What kind of mutant can’t flush a urinal?
You know what really grinds my gears...
The guy that thinks they're going to catch AIDS walking from the urinal to the sink to wash their hands. You can probably spot them by the way they're opening the bathroom door to leave with a paper towel in their hand.
Or, standing in the hallway with a dirty paper towel in their hand.

They renovated our bathrooms at work within the last year or so, and everything now has an automatic flush system on it. Unfortunately, there's no automatic mechanism in place to force some people to wash their damn hands.
