"think of the veterans"

There is some numbnuts down the hill, in our densely populated area, that sets off fireworks after Steeler games and Pens playoff games. This week is his opus.

Not to be a Debbie Downer...I get people wanting to set off their own fireworks, etc. But it sure does break your heart to watch your pets cower and hide in fright and bewilderment. Especially when some jackwagon neighbor does it for hours on end, multiple days in a row. And juuuuuust when you think he's done, he starts up again. I hate it.

About half a mile before my house, the speed limit drops from 55 to 35 for no reason whatsoever. The State Police sit there probably 10 days a month and write speeding tickets. They were there yesterday and today. I drive like a granny so I'm at very little risk of getting a ticket there, but at least a few of my photography clients have been ticketed, so when I see them running the speed trap, I try to give a heads up on Facebook.

I did this today and someone commented, "Let the cops do their jobs. That's how they get the DUIs!" Umm, sure. That's why they sit there from 10-3, but never in the evenings. And they ticket people going 45 in a 35 during daylight hours, but aren't concerned about coal trucks barreling through going 60+ at 6am or drivers in the evening going over 65. I get that speed traps are a thing, but why would anyone who isn't a cop or isn't married or related to a cop, sticking up for such practices?

Fireworks might be moved up or cancelled due to an incoming thunderstorm?

I feel you, but really I would rather rip the band aid off and just get it done.

I thought I’d be slick and take my dog that’s absolutely terrified of loud bangs out at quarter til since fireworks start at 9. Two steps out the door and *kaboom*. One of our neighbors set something huge off. He bolts back for the door, dragging me behind him. Now he’s freaking out on his part of the couch. Awesome. Luckily my newborn doesn’t even hear them. She’s sound asleep.

We’ve tried it. Does nothing. We’ve tried DAP spray, nothing. Nothing seems to really work except wait it out. My wife tried cuddling him and it made it way worse. She was a little mad at me for pointing out the obvious that she was doing more harm than good.

That sucks. Our goldendoodle was hilariously unfazed by all of the fireworks today. The neighbors were setting them off in the street, and she was more concerned with saying hi to everyone then the fireworks. We have always been lucky with her in a lot of ways, and that is yet another it seems.

I used to crank up ESPN or the Golf channel whenever our dog would get scared.

I’ve got The Last Crusade cranked right now, but we live really really close to one of the largest fireworks shows in the nation.

My one dog loves fireworks because he assumes it is a gunshot and some dead animal is going to appear.

I think generally- there is nothing like a well coreographed professional fireworks show.

The neighbor’s half assed but noisy ones or the guy who sprung for good ones which he shoots off at a rate of about one every two minutes can eat it.

My dog is too scared to go outside and will 100% sht in her crate overnight if I don't get a break in the fireworks to take her out. It's the 4th so I won't get grumpy or complain or anything but it does stink a little bit in this regard

small business owners that put up barriers for customers to access their product/acquire their commodity

we are having a very minor hvac issue. i received a recommendation from my assistant for her guy. i gave him a call, left voicemail. he called back and i could not take call, he left voicemail. i try to return call, voicemail full. i tried 12 hours later, full. i understand this is a busy time of year, but get your **** together.

there is a gentleman who makes an artisanal good that use daily. i am running low on my current supply and looking to try the same product but different variation. i know that he previously sold samples. i had to follow up several times to at least get a response and then said try back in three weeks because he is waiting on some supplies to arrive.

i always try to support local business owners when i can but these gaffs make my head spin
