Mozilla completely changed everything around in their latest Firefox app update for Android. Completely different interface to learn.

MANDATORY School soccer practice is 10 am to noon.....

Hey I get it people are working from home and should be glad there are any sports at all and I have a job during COVID times but..... my wife works 1/2 hour away and frankly sometimes I have meetings stacked all morning. We’re not on the way for any teammates to share rides.

Frustrating.

My credit union just removed the ability to transfer money from your checking/savings accounts into an add-on CD. You must now call in and have the call center or local branch make the transfer for you. GTFO with that ****. I'm sure it's just to sway people to not bother adding money to a high interest CD.

that is odd behavior for a credit union. they're usually the Good Guys.

It is, and it's really my only complaint with them. They have been great for the 15 years or so that I've been a member. Got my first mortgage through them, a number of CDs, etc. The even redesigned their entire website last year to make it more modern and functional. This goes against the grain, for sure.

I had groceries delivered from Giant Eagle and the order included 2 packages of sliced mushrooms. Neither pack was washed. Why would anyone sell unwashed sliced mushrooms? The only reason I buy sliced mushrooms is because it saves me the time of washing them.

Don't wash them with running water. Wipe them off with a paper towel. Running them under water will result in them absorbing water.

Too late. :(

I'll remember that for the next package though. Thanks.

Can't you just cook them until they lose their water?

Possibly? Only knew to wipe off from working in restaurants. Turns out a cooking website said they won't brown if they're wet, but also said that happened if they are soaked in a bowl.

Depends on the type of mushroom. Most are fine if you use a sprayer, and even better if you do it in a salad spinner (thanks, Alton).

This is a myth.
Other food gurus confirm Bittman's take on this (contentious) issue. Alton Brown and Kenji Lopez Alt are both on Team Wash. Famed culinary scientist Harold McGee tackled the dilemma in his book The Curious Cook. He found that even after soaking button mushrooms for five minutes, a single mushroom absorbed one-sixteenth of a teaspoon of water. "A speedy rinse, McGee concludes, causes virtually no water retention," notes Saveur magazine.

My GF hates Alton Brown. Says he's too snobby. I love him myself. I like how he explains the why and the how.

He can come off as snobby, but I support damn near everything he does. I've made some really good food using his recipes.

Yes, when I see a guy who makes meat smokers out of cardboard boxes and paints flames on the side of his stand mixer the first thing that comes to my mind is 'snob'.

If you want an example, watch the Reloaded episode on coffee. It's one of the few I disagree with him on, and where he does come off that way. And FWIW, his planter smoker with an electric stovetop was still the best.

Alton Brown is a watch snob. If you're wearing a quartz watch, he's going to be silently judging you.

The story about his father's watch is amazing. I also didn't know Brown was a pilot.

Yeah, he did a few episodes of OG Good Eats where he flew about.
