Then why are you on social media? Why should someone else's pregnancy be a big deal for anyone but the immediate family? Good on you if you want to start a family but there's no reason everyone should be expected to see it as a monumental situation. That would be like me expecting you to celebrate my getting a promotion or buying a house... You may think I'm an idiot but I think you're a doody head.I think both of you are idiots for saying that. But we'll move on unlike last time.Man, I took the biggest heap of **** for saying that exact same thing last year. I even used the word 'achievement' and some anal retentive nutso said 'hurr durr it's not XBox.' I love the internet.IE: Facebook statuses declaring pregnancy as some major achievement. We can all go through the act of doing that. It's not a big deal.
*End gear grinding.*

Is that a serious question? Like all things in life you take the good with the bad.

I was thinking more of the ones where you drink beer and hang out.
People getting new houses typically means a new place to hang out that is likely bigger than the last.

the fact that when job searching, you can't use "years experience" as a filter. I'll enter "jr. software developer" and get a ton of Sr. positions because it has "junior" in the job description (as in "you'll be in charge of junior developers" or something like that).

You don't have to congratulate them.Is that a serious question? Like all things in life you take the good with the bad.
I just take offense to people that act like getting pregnant is a simple task and blow it off when someone is excited. It really isn't that easy for many, many people. Often times there is a lot of pain, heartbreak, and for some, the possibility of it happening is zero.

How about this...If you aren't happy for someone getting pregnant, you shouldn't be their facebook friend.

Now that I am closing in on 32, when I see high school friends (that are in stable marriages or whatever) get pregnant, I like to assume that they really wanted to have kids, and finally were able to get pregnant. How about this...If you aren't happy for someone getting pregnant, you shouldn't be their facebook friend.
And in terms of pregnancy "being an achievement"...yes, it may not be an achievement necessarily. But not to get personal, but we were told it wouldn't happen without a lot of medical and scientific help, and it happened without resorting to those measures. Now for those 28 year old women that are on their fourth kid? Have at it

Pregnancy announcements seem like the kind of thing facebook is actually useful for.

Celebrating unusual anniversaries or milestones on Facebook is annoying. "Little Timmy is 4 months old!!!!" Hey, congrats on being a competent parent and not killing your perfectly healthy kid yet.

Celebrating tifosi's birthday. It's not a big deal. It just proves he wasn't dumb enough to die within the last year.

A lot of these recent FB peeves are ridiculous IMO.
"Timmy is 4 months old!"
That bothers you? Really? Why do you even have social media? Why are you social media buddies with this person? Why not just fill your timeline with inspirational quotes and "life hacks" if you don't want to hear from people you have friended?
Pregnancy announcements? As Icraig40 said, that's the kind of thing social media is really good for.

Lol. Yes, exactly. I cannot believe some of these comments? What exactly do you like to read on Facebook if not pregnancy announcements and people sharing mundane aspects of their life.

When you call a business multiple times during their open hours and go to the answering machine each time...
We had planned to drop my dog off at my parent's house for the weekend, but my family isn't going to be there. They're all going to be doing other stuff, so we're trying to get in contact with the kennel we usually take him to. We left a message yesterday morning, no response, so yesterday afternoon we tried calling about once an hour because if we can't get him in there, we need to make arrangements. Not answering at all, so we figured we'd try again today. Nothing. Might be time to find a new kennel.
