Never cared much for Kiffin’s act but this Ole Miss team is really freaking entertaining.

Vols fans chucking stuff out of the stands. CFB fans are trash. Their own cheerleaders and dance teams had to leave the field.
A bottle of mustard. Seriously?
Do they sell beer in the stands there? I did see a few cans.

Looks like another banner week in Iowa City too. When a fan throws a full beer at you, what else ya gonna do?

He coached there for one year in 2009. I don’t get the vitriol? Because he went to another SEC program?

Regardless, let’s not throw **** at people in crowded stadiums.

Kiffin's departure for USC in 2010 after just one season as head coach of the Volunteers upset many students and fans of the University of Tennessee. When Tennessee athletic director Mike Hamilton was asked for an assessment of Kiffin's tenure coaching the Volunteers, he responded with just one word: "Brief."[40] Hundreds of students rioted on campus at the news of Kiffin's departure.[41] Knoxville police and fire department were brought in after students blocked the exit from the Neyland Thompson Sports Center and started several small fires.[42]

Oh. I vaguely remember that. Tennessee has been a dumpster fire, for the most part, since then.

I'd love to see Cinci keep this up and make a playoff appearance. New blood at the top is always fun.

The sad part for Cincinnati is that the asshats at ESPN will campaign against them over and over even if they get to 13-0 on decision day. In some ways, I hope they get left out again just to prove the absurdity of the system and listen to all the jackass talking heads defend the committee’s decision. College football is great on a week by week basis but the end game has been f’d up for so many years and they have no clue that it would make them a ton more money if they expanded to 8.

I maintain that it will take either Oklahoma losing once, Alabama losing a second time, or the B1G East top 4 all beating each other into a total cluster for them to make the playoff. They might still take 2 loss Bama over Cincinnati if that loss is in the SEC CG to Georgia.

Is the Big XII lobbying these lower conference teams that pop up every year or are they going to fall back when Texas and Okie join the SEC and we'll be down to a Power 4? I mean regardless of recent success Cincinnati, UCF and Coastal Carolina don't really scream "Power 5" although the Bearcats used to be in the Big East- Is this thing going to become actually less competitive?

Daniel Tosh's jokes aside - there is no question the guy knows how to coach, especially after he turned 6th best (out of 6) major public school in Florida into a winner.

And if sports are supposed to be entertainment, he truly knows how to entertain. This weekend, in particular, he was truly the boss. Team won. LK was as calmed as a person in his situation could be during the post game interview. Actually complemented the TN fan base. And the visor toss was the icing on the cake...

Ultimately, I am not disappointed by who AR secured as a head coach after the Chad Morris fiasco - but I would have liked Kiffin era so much...

(Plus I am so envious of the 30 lb weight loss despite the high-stress job... :) )

Good.

I'm not convinced alcohol needs to be served inside college sports venues. It's not in the NCAA basketball tournament venues.

I guess I am assuming it was served in the venue. With the current high level bag check and scanning, it would (in theory) be tough to get the cans of beer that were thrown in Knoxville and Iowa City into the game otherwise.

I don't remember where, but at least one place I've been the server opened the beverage can, emptied it into the cup, and threw the can away. Kind of a pain because if you drop a can, you might still have most of your drink but if you drop a cup, it's gone. But given the projectile potential, made sense.

AFAIK alcohol is indeed sold within the Volunteers stadium. I was surprised by that, because both universities I spent significant time at - Pitt and UofA - are 'dry campuses.' At the UofA, alcohol is allowed only at the Alumni House (where donor receptions are held) and in the luxury suites of the Razorback Stadium.

Just got an email from Clemson Athletics offering me discounted tickets with free parking and 20% off the online store for the Wake Forest game.

I haven't seen this sort of thing since Tajh Boyd was QB.

The bandwagon has lost some passengers

(Tickets are still $50 each)

Fully expect it to end 40-10 Sooners but Kansas just went up 10-0 on Oklahoma

I haven't had a chance to see any OT games this season, so it was only today when I found out that new rules changed the "real OT" into a "shootout exchange of 2-PT conversions after 2nd OT". This makes IMO the 9-OT Illinois-PSU result far less impressive compared to the 7-OT "real games" in the past - when the teams actually had to trade FG for FG, TD for TD... (not that I mind - I bet the 9OT goes pretty fast when it is just a series of one-off plays).

Quick question: do they trade sides during those OTs? (I presume they still trade the order of possession - that is, Team A goes first in 1st, 3rd, 5th... OT, right?)

Yes. There was a march to each end of the field after each OT. Pretty tiresome.

Vegas odds say not only are the playoff teams Georgia, Bama, Okie and OSU, Bama has second best odds to make it behind Georgia.

Cincinnati better hope someone gets upset.

I think if Georgia beats Bama in the SEC championship, Cinci gets in...but that might be their only way.
