Steelers at Bengals GDT - Week 14 - Win for KG

Postby Trip McNeely » Mon Dec 21, 2020 11:27 pm

Villanueva is toast. Dude sucks
Got beat the entire game. Every snap
He stood for the anthem though. Automatic Pro Bowler.
In general the OLine sucks all around. Villanueva is a turnstile, we have third stringers at left guard, Pouncey is slightly above average and has no push anymore, Chuks has potential and is a good pass blocker and Decastro looks like he’s more interested in retiring than playing next week

Ben was putrid and looks done...but he also seems to know he can’t hold the ball more than 2 seconds and not get killed

How long has Kenny Mayne been back on ESPN?
He never actually left. He randomly popped up once or twice a year for a while

Why is Fichtner still employed?

I know we ask that every week, but seriously.

Honestly there's only so much you can do with this line imo. The run game actually showed some promise today but the game flow didn't really allow for too much of that chasing 17 points. I'm curious to see if they maybe figured a little something out or if the Bengals just stink. Their defense didn't look that bad

Ben looked bad and scared. But one thing you can take out of this game is maybe Ben isn’t done (despite that first half). I just think he and the coaches are terrified he’s going to get beheaded with the line protecting him.

That Banner injury really sucks right now because I think Villanueva is riding the pine if we had a replacement there for him. Oh and that wisnewski cut looks awful considering Derwin Gray was playing the entire third quarter

With the rise in quality edge rushers around the league its obvious that at least one quality tackle (preferably left) is needed. Right now the steelers don't have any.

OH yeah, remember when they cut Stefan Wisniewski? Yup..

Ben had the mannerisms of a golfer who got a few tough bounces in the first few holes so he pouted the rest of a 4 and a half hour round. What a loser.

This game was so disappointing that I’m going to get a McRib tomorrow to put the disappointment in perspective.

Given the situation at LG, the release of Wisniewski is even more inexplicable. Whatever the **** the backup center’s name is, that dude should file a police report because he was repeatedly assaulted all night.

Well, you cannot run the ball on 2nd and short in Fichtners offense.

I’m beginning to think that quick throwing Ben doesn’t have enough time to see his open receivers. But then if he holds onto the ball longer, he’ll get clobbered. Pick your poison.

The offense needs to understand that Ben is going to take hits to get the run game/play-action game going. You can't have him coming out of shot-gun 90% of the plays and expect success.

That all being said, I think we're very close to the end of our franchise QB and won't be surprised if he retires at the end of the year, reports be damned, because I don't think I want to see another offense like this if they can't do it.

The amount of loyalty showed to the offensive line was way too much given how downright awful they are. DeCastro is done, Big Al is done, Pouncey is almost done. They need some young blood on that line as soon as possible.

JuJu needs to cut the logo **** like yesterday. It's all fun and games until it becomes a story, it's a story now. Stop it. Only potential saving grace is that he won't be around next year to do it with the Steelers if he's gonna be stubborn about it.

There are no open receivers. This is still a talented group of receivers, but there are 3 levels of defenders collapsing on the receivers on every route. LBs CBs and safeties are all running to the same 3 or 4 places on the fielder and clobbering these receivers. Sure, Juju got hit in the head on that fumble, but he was a sitting duck just getting set up to get blasted. The only time WRs were open underneath last night was during pick plays.

I'm ready for juju to get lost. He hasn't been good for 2 years now yet still creates a spectacle. Time to get someone quieter.

The only thing I'm marginally annoyed by with JuJu is Claypool quasi doing the same antics - hasn't bled onto the field yet, but he's the WR I hope they keep, so hopefully he keeps it in check.

yes - there's pros and cons of Ben getting rid of it in 2.2 seconds. The con being the defense knows this now and is totally jumping on routes and shutting down the underneath stuff.

On the JuJu fumble, Claypool was open and probably had an easy touchdown (according to a Steelers beat writer). There was another play that ESPN showed later in that first half where Claypool had his man beat and could’ve had a big gain or another touchdown. That being said, Ben doesn’t have enough time to see these developments.

Evidently, Claypool is the one filming a lot of JuJu’s on field dancing. So that’s not great.

Juju got Claypool signed up for the tok too. And he did film Juju. It'll be an endless cycle of fun.
