From last December but there is opposition:
State Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman (R., Centre) vowed he would do “everything in my power to prevent legalization of recreational marijuana.”

“The governor’s new position on the issue of legalizing the drug for recreational use is reckless and irresponsible," Corman said in a statement Wednesday night. “Recreational marijuana is a mind-altering narcotic which will harm our youth, as it is a depressant and a gateway drug to other illegal substances.

“Combine that with a lack of credible research on the societal costs and opposition from prosecutors, the medical community, and law enforcement and you have the makings of a catastrophe,” Corman said.

The level of blatant hypocrisy with the alcohol/cannabis thing is maddening. At least be consistent and call for the prohibition of both.

Maybe you dinguses that vote Republican should send some emails to your local legislators asking them to support legalization.

Obviously I hope that more R's embrace legalization. But I'm hardly a single-issue voter on this topic, sooo ;)

You suppose there are any moderates going to these events? You have to think it's probably a series of town halls with a bunch of stoners and then a collection of old curmudgeons. I mean, I support legalization but I'm not wasting my time going to talk to this guy.

No one is going to these things on the fence about anything. I'd add to the collection of old curmudgeons a group of soccer moms quoting gateway drug non-sense.

Wait. I wanted to hear about that woman’s sister in Colorado. I don’t have online and need to know what’s going on out there.

...There’s no use in trying to predict the tea leaves or engaging in debate anymore. Prohibition is on its death rattle. These people deserve pity more than anger at this point. Sorry, flyover states, for the delay, however. You’re gonna have to wait a bit.

I didn't go, but by all accounts the Erie town hall was overwhelmingly pro legalization. I heard that maybe 10 out of over 150 attendees were opposed.

I will use that form to tell them to stop wasting taxpayer money on what is a foregone conclusion. Just stop.
