I'm just happy we have 3 very good WRs. Washington ain't a bad #4 either

I don't think anyone is arguing JuJu #1 on Steelers. I think the discussion, and I would concur that he is not, on him being a #1 for the league. As DD said, it's a limited group.

Washington is an interesting player. He flies so far under the radar, but I’m always impressed whenever he gets the ball thrown his way.

It seems to me the major takeaway from the last couple pages is "this is a good problem for the Steelers to have in what might be Ben's final year as an elite QB".

I don't think this will be Ben's final elite year pending injury, if he's figure out how to utilize the short routes.

His long-ball is fading, but he's tapping into managing games now. It is JuJu's last year with the Steelers, unless he takes a short-term, team friendly deal (lol)

Catches pretty much everything thrown his way, runs like a 220 lb RB and is a good blocker. Not sure why he hasn't really broken out like the others but again, pretty good for a #4. I don't watch closely enough but I'm assuming he doesn't have the route running as the others

Not sure if his speed ever translated to the NFL level. When he was with OSU with Rudolph, they'd just run fly routes repeatedly. He hasn't really done that here. Him and JuJu are close to Anquan Boldin type, and he was legit, so it's good to have those guys.

The WR group is interesting and diverse.

I think the ball placement window for ebron and Johnson is pretty tight, but they have unique attributes (ebron big, Johnson crafty) that allows them to create separation in their one on one matchups.
They definitely view claypool as the over the top guy, but I’m not sure that what he is. I think he might be another Boldin type.

lol, if they weren't on target, dude has air mailed it past his WRs on the long ball this season.

This is basically it. Dude is a good athlete and WR, but in college he was so athletically superior to everyone else it was just fly routes all day long and he never had to learn how to run a good route. Look at the Steelers WR corps and its easy to make the case that he’s the least athletically gifted WR on the team. He’s coming along fine, but it’s not easy to change your playing style after relying solely on athletic ability your entire life.

Yea, my mistake I didn't mean he was getting weak, I meant that he's just all over the place with the long-ball, to the degree he wasn't before.

I don’t know if it’s just me wanting this to be true, but he seems to be doing a better job in that regard. He’s either hitting the receiver or putting it just out of his reach. It was the balls that would wind up short that I always worried about, but I find myself not really worrying about that this season.

I feel like he's been over throwing his WRs to the point where I just feel like that elbow has thrown off his touch a bit.

Let’s be honest, if this is him playing ‘off’, we’re in pretty damn good shape.

I don’t think his arm strength is what it used to be, so he needs to put more air under the deep ball, making it more difficult to be accurate. It’s easier to be accurate on a deep ball if you have a laser rocket arm that can throw a frozen rope 60 yards downfield.

This is probably a better summation of what I think is happening. The gun slinger is still there, but the power has been reduced on the deep ball.

Absolutely, this is all nit-picking. If anything, it's taught him to be a better game manager, which is better for him and the team in the long run.

I think Ben only throws the deep ball when the short routes aren't there. And based on the Ravens game, getting PI's are probably more his line of thinking than completing the ball. Getting reverse Flacco'd was also wonderful justice.

He made a very nice throw to Diontae on a long ball last night. I think it's just the timing that he's getting back imo. He's got plenty of zip on his balls
