I went ahead and gave this a listen, it might as well have cited Chris Simms' top qb rankings. There was no substance to the argument, it was that people think Broeth is a top5 QB? Some subjective ranking that means nothing. Broeth has done excellent at avoiding negative plays, which is basically the most logical script to run when you have a good defense. And also that people are assuming that the defense will keep being "elite"? They lead the league in sacks and interceptions and are top 5 in yards allowed per game, like, what metric should someone use to decide whether a defense is good or not.

This might as well have been an Andrew Filipone A-segment. PFF, very bad, now a disgrace.

And it's not like they weren't expected to be a great defense. It's the stated reason Ben came back. And they finally have tuitt and heyward together for a sustained period and have shown that big plays in the secondary was not a fluke. The emergence of Claypool is huge and Ben is a $$$ HOF big game big moment guy that has come back and shown that he has placed lots of value on protecting the ball. The only reason they're called overrated is because they are the only team that is 10-0 and they might not necessarily be the clear best team in the NFL. But there's little reason to think they have been playing over their heads at all.

What does it say about Ben that the QB coach gets Covid and Ben isn't considered a close contact?

They also have had a total cake schedule. Not that they can control that, but it could be why they're considered overrated while also being undefeated.

Theyre probably not the best team, but they might be. I worry they can't keep Kansas City off the scoreboard enough to win that game without Ben playing like a superstar though.

I like their chances. They'll get run ragged deep across the middle all game but this D will come up with big turnovers/sacks and I'd expect a chance to drive to win for each team at the end

To me, this is like Nate silver doing punditry. I thought PFF was going to have some statistical basis for making their case. But the bit was just talk radio commentary with no substantive qualifications. There was no like hidden stat or leading indicator that their record didn’t align with their performance.

I was under the false impression that pff was like fangraphs. When the latter writes a piece with some kind of hot take headline, they make the case.

I think I read one of their coaches was an anti-masker and hid his symptoms. If that's true, don't see why it'd be fair to punish the whole team if the rest followed all the protocols.

That's literally the principle of team discipline. You would hate the military.

Besides, players had maskless sessions with him. They are complicit.
