Nice things cannot be had. Team activities stopped and final two regular season games cancelled for the men's soccer team due to COVID protocols.

that sucks, though it's not a real college soccer championship if the MAC isn't playing and you don't have to go through Akron

Kicking off the week in style as only Pitt can...Pittsburgh Sports Now reporting that Paris Ford has opted out of the remainder of the season. According to the article, his decision was influenced by increasing COVID-19 cases in the area. Jim Hammett at Panther Lair confirmed this as well and even suggested this may have been a mutual decision, which doesn't surprise me at all. Ford got into some pretty heated arguments on the sideline and if I remember correctly didn't play most of the fourth quarter.

I honestly don't blame him. This season is lost for Pitt and it wouldn't entirely surprise me if Jones & Weaver ultimately decide the same thing.

Yep, I had a feeling that would start happening if things started to go south. And honestly don't blame the kids. The season is shot, and if you are projected to be a high draft pick, might as well pack it in.

Honestly, even outside of COVID times, I can see this happening more and more. it started with the bowl games if it wasn't a playoff. I can see if a team is out of it early in the season, and there is some stud kid on the team, they'd just opt out the rest of the season.

While I'd like to blame Narduzzi, and I'm sure he's not without fault here, this makes business sense for Ford.

Agree, don't think it's anyone's "fault".

PS, they were losing with Ford, they will continue to lose w/o him.

While I certainly agree with Dokish's sentiment from a frustration standpoint, you can plug Twyman and Mathis back into this defense and it's still not going to fix the myriad of issues that plague this team on the other side of the ball. The defense has its share of blame but the offense being a one-dimensional train wreck for the fourth season in a row is absolutely the primary reason this team is 3-4. And while Pickett's ability to run is one of just two things - the other being Jordan Addison - in this offense that seem capable of consistently moving the ball, I think even if he's healthy for the entire BC, Miami, and ND games, he only helps so much.

Re: Ford, I'm not bummed out about it. Let Hill and Hallett play, and maybe see if Royal can get some playing time down this final stretch of games, too.

Yeah, at this point, I don't mind seeing some fresh guys play and see what they can do.

Yeah, let them learn the way of having their coach trip over his own dick and then blame you.

When he's gone after this year or next, this will be one of the things I won't miss about him at all. It'll be right up there with him taking pot shots at his former assistant coaches after they leave.

Narduzzi getting fired and replaced by Matt Canada would have a sense of poetic justice to it.

I am the most passive follower of Pitt football but it really pisses me off when people like him shift accountability away from themselves. It's the only real axe I have to grind. Dude is a loser.

Pitt actually printed out 2009 Big East football co champs shirts. I saw them for sale in Oakland. I really regret not buying one.

My most treasured pitt gear is a shirt that says

"High Octane Football

Coming to Heinz Field Fall 2011"

or something like that. it was a giveaway at a Q&A session with Toddy Graham and his coaching staff. Good times good times.

lol I remember that High Octane tagline. Then they came out and went offsides a bunch of time on offense.
