Blackjack68's Thread of OCD & Weird Habits

Postby blackjack68 » Wed Apr 22, 2015 10:27 am

I don't have crippling OCD, but there are things that drive me crazy if they are not "properly" done.

Years ago, when we were first married, my wife and I had a large bathroom vanity. The toothpaste was always to the left of the left faucet handle. One day it wasn't there. I asked my wife, seriously, if we were out of toothpaste. She walks in, grabs the toothpaste from about 2 feet away and hands it to me. I honestly couldn't see it because it wasn't in the right place.

Now, she occasionally tries to F with me. The other night, I cooked grilled cheeses for dinner. She and I each had two. She cut one of hers diagonally (correctly) and one horizontally. If that wasn't bad enough, it wasn't even in half! It was 2/3 to 1/3.

And toilet paper has to go over the top.

Are you weird too, or is it just me?

whenever I have notifications, be it on my iPhone, email account, etc. I always, ALWAYS, need to get rid of them.

I can't stand hanging notifications.

No dude you don't understand. Every time I go out I literally always have to have my phone in my left pocket and my wallet in my right. Literally full-blown OCD

yeah...i've gone over this in the LGP pet peeves thread, but as someone who has been officially diagnosed, it's at least mildly annoying when people call being organized OCD.

but whatever...it's all tongue in cheek. i get it.

Left on first. Left leg through pants, right leg through pants. Left shoe, right shoe. Left shirt sleeve, right shirt sleeve.

Just because someone hasn't gone and been diagnosed, doesn't mean they aren't OCD.

I literally have to eat any colored candy by color. I get pissed at myself if I eat them out of order.

I have to check all the faucets in the house, the doors, and the oven three time before going to bed. Had me running around the house right before bed. Only have to check once when leaving the house.

Orange M&Ms first, followed by brown, then yellow, then red, then blue and green last.

I'm with ya.

My car radio HAS to be an even number or the number of a current (or legendary) Penguin.

Whenever I hit a spring loaded switch (like your rear defrost button) I need to hit it clean in the center. If I even brush the side of the base I have to do it again.

I am strange...

shmenguin....I love ya man. I really do. But come on dude. We all know OCD is a real thing and it deeply affects many people and their families in devastating ways and nobody here (as far as I know) is saying that we can't function if these things aren't perfect.

About the only thing I'm severely OCD about is my desktop. I absolutely HATE cluttered, convoluted desktops full of random files, links, docs, etc. Four icons max.

I always have to have the power button on my car radio facing up. Not exactly OCD, but a weird habit nonetheless.

I don't like to eat the ends of things usually...growing up, I never ate crust on bread, I seldom ever ate the ends of french fries if they were too crispy (that threshold was very low), I didn't like the part of the cheeseburger that I was holding on to, if there was a little bit of, say, gatorade, left in a bottle, like roughly one mouthful's worth, I would not drink it...

I've largely matured past those things...I eat crust, I eat the ends of french fries, etc. but I had some strange habits when I was younger with food...
