New Study Finds Covid Spikes After N.F.L. Games With Fans
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/06/spor ... covid.html

This is interesting coming after the report that outdoor transmission likely only accounts for .1% of all transmission (in Ireland). So we know outdoor transmission is rare, we know surface transmission is rare, and yet there are spikes around NFL games. Maybe it's the social aspect around the game more than the game itself? Bars, restaurants around the stadium, etc.

I didn't read the Ireland study but "outdoors" is pretty vague. 100 people in a 500 acre park aren't going to transmit the virus to each other. 5,000 walking through an open air concourse together is still "outside" but isn't remotely the same thing as the former.

Prof Weed said outdoor gatherings are safe if accompanied by proper risk management. For example, crowds could be allowed at sporting events if rules are observed around congregating in indoor venues beforehand.

:thumb: That must be what is happening with NFL games also. Those games were mostly outdoors (or in giant stadiums), socially distant, and required masks. It has to be the bars/restaurants around the stadium.

I had some very mild soreness after my first shot right at the injection site. I wouldn't even all it pain, just sore to the touch I guess?

The biggest shocker for me when I looked at the side effects demographics was that the numbers were higher across the board for ages 26-55 vs. 56+.

I think that's been chalked up to a more robust immune system.

Yeah. Reactions are good because it means your immune system is responding. Physical symptoms like a fever are part of the body’s defense mechanism

Ah! That makes sense. Thanks.

I have two small children at home...I am planning on milking whatever side effects I get for maximum laziness.

Same. It felt like a bruise the day after taking a slapshot to the triceps. Tight, tender, but not painful

I'd love to see the numbers on mind fog, or whatever you want to call it. I'd guess that's lumped in with fatigue, but for me and a lot of people I've talked to the foggy, inability to concentration, inability to think thing has come in high numbers.

I have yet to talk to a single person, pfizer or moderna, that didn't at the very least say it felt like they had some pressure in the injection area. My guess is the "no" category is filled with tough guys or people that take words super literally. "Pain? No, it was more like a mild irritation in the muscle any time I moved my arm, but pain? No. No pain."

I had some pain in the general shoulder area not specifically at the injection site.

Yes. Moreso than the second. Please note, it felt like the first woman was digging around my deltoid looking for a civil war musket ball
