Looks like we are left with herd immunity.
What should concern all Americans is that, as more and more states see their outbreaks intensify, the country will lose its ability to understand what is happening. As my colleague Alexis C. Madrigal and I reported this week, some of the country’s major testing providers are backlogged and overwhelmed, and are no longer able to turn around test results as quickly as is epidemiologically useful. Yesterday, Brett Giroir, who coordinates COVID-19 testing in the Trump administration, said: “It is absolutely correct that some labs across the country are reaching or near capacity.”

Considering based on CDC over 30 million people have already have it, we are already on our way. Sweden peaked in deaths and they did way less than their neighbors. Also they have less deaths YTD than they do on average the last 10 years.

Herd immunity assumes you can't get it again, right?

That site you pointed me to a while back, justgivemepositivenews.com, has been good for me. I have noticed that basically none of the stories are from the US any longer outside of some vaccine company news.

We **** this all up, and there’s no spinning it.

Is there going to be another run on TP?
funny you should mention that. here in ATL the shelves are still frequently bare. for what reason, I don't know. one theory is that plant workers are getting COVID and therefore production and supply chains are suffering. in any case, a friend of my cousin's had an interesting suggestion: buy straight from the manufacturer. I hadn't even considered this as an option so I tried it since we're short of paper towels. I ordered Tuesday from Georgia-Pacific and Fedex is delivering today:

Si, if enough people are immune, the virus won't be able to find new carriers and will thus die out.

Right but do we know thats the case - if you get it once you're good? I feel like I've read conflicting info.

My understanding is they don't have evidence that you are like permanently immune. But it does appear that your body has the antibodies for some period of time after contracting the virus.

And T-cell response. It doesn't give you immunity, but will most likely keep you from getting severe illness.

My in-laws have been told to self-quarantine after coming in contact with a late 20s laborer who was working on their house and tested positive.

So glad we’re just “living with this” now. Hopefully it’s all precautionary and nothing comes of it.

Our friends son who lives in LA was diagnosed. His girlfriend was showing symptoms so they both went and got tested. With the swab test she tested positive and he tested negative, so they did the antibody test just to be sure. His antibody test showed two different antibodies: one you get while you’re actively fighting COVID and one you get for a past infection, so now he’s getting to play guinea pig to determine if he actually both has it and had it while being completely asymptomatic.

2 more players in our beer league tested positive. one is a friend (and FedEx pilot) who I know hasn't played since we re-started 6/22. the other guy is in the same league as our Patient Zero and we're trying to determine if he was present when their teams played each other 6/22, the day before Zero started having symptoms.
