I've talked to nearly a dozen people already who had a J&J appointment sometime this week who had whomever they signed up with call and cancel.

They got put back on the list.

Somewhere, at some point.

My 74-year old cancer surviving mom with autoimmune disease was only just able to get an appointment for J&J. I wonder if she'll get rescheduled.

Isn't the point of the US pause so that nobody else receives J&J while they're investigating? It shouldn't be surprising when states pause right?

Locally, UMPC is moving forward with their vaccination clinics that were originally set to be J&J with alternative vaccines. Obviously not an option for most places, but that's the best way to handle this.

PA ‘incredibly concerned’ about falling demand for COVID-19 vaccine as eligibility expands Tuesday
https://www.pennlive.com/news/2021/04/p ... esday.html

I wonder how much this has to do with vaccine hesitancy vs how PA handled the rollout. I know plenty of people (myself included) who went to Ohio for their shot. I also know people who fudged their way into 1A. That said, they're right. There are a TON of appointments available.

About 43% of Allegheny County have had at least one shot (54% of adults). I don't know if that counts folks who go outside of the county for their shot, though I assume that it does.

On the plus side, I'm guessing the "I AIN'T TAKIN NO STINKIN VACCINE!!!" folk are also the non-mask wearing, still hangin out with buddies, already got the Covid and don't think it's a big deal folk. They might already have immunities from having the virus.

Here's hopin...

My wife worked with a patient this past Saturday who's contracted Covid five (5, cinco, cinq, a handful) you heard me right, FIVE times!! What in the actual H E double hockey sticks is going on? Probably an autoimmune issue but wow is that sad.

barf.

i wonder how many of these people are sort of like..."i don't want to die of COVID, but i'm single and work from home, and i also don't want to deal with getting 2 shots and waiting 6 weeks. i'll just do my thing until herd immunity." like me in my 20's, i'd probably be pretty casual about all this stuff. if bars were opening with full capacity, i'd be motivated to get back out there, but i probably wouldn't have found civic participation that compelling.

Tell you what - if this pandemic happened 25 years ago - that's probably my exact line of thinking

and if I was a single woman in her early 30's and very much interested in a family, i'd have very little interest in a multi-year delay in pregnancy, where you're gonna be weighing out the current COVID stakes against a likely geriatric pregnancy if you follow the guidelines.

for so many reasons, we don't need the wet blankets asking people to extend our pandemic measures into 2022.

The local news just reported that 18% of Somerset has been vaccinated. At least we're above Bedford, which is 12%. Rural PA is so damned awful.

Wow. I was just going to say my brother lost his sense of smell today, so I guess he definitely got it a second time. One shot too. Figured those odds were low, but 5!
