Agree with this.I suppose nothing was learned from what happened in Europe with the AZ vaccine, huh? This will set back the vaccine efforts by at least a month. I guess the 20,000 people or so that die in the one month set back due to 6 instances of blood clots over 7 million people inoculated is warranted? gtfo.

I'm very uninformed when it comes to blood clots, so looking at "stoptheclot.org", here's some data to think about:
Now, I'm not saying it shouldn't be looked into. It should, but 6 in 7 million is not the time to hit the stop button to investigate.ON AVERAGE, 274 PEOPLE DIE EVERY DAY FROM BLOOD CLOTS
-107 to 130 cases of potentially deadly blood clots occurred each year per 100,000 Caucasian individuals from 1985 through 2002. This translates into about 1 to 3 cases per 1,000 people.
-250,000 cases of potentially deadly blood clots, such as deep vein thrombosis or DVT, occurred each year between 1966 through 1990.
900,000 cases per year are now suggested by recent scientific modeling and public health statistics.
-100,000 to 300,000 deaths from blood clots occur each year, which is greater than the total number of people who lose their lives each year to AIDS, breast cancer, and motor vehicle crashes combined.
-600,000 non-fatal cases of deadly blood clots occur each year, of which 40% are blood clots in the lungs and 60% are blood clots in the legs.
-547,596 hospitalizations due to blood clots occurred from 2007 – 2009.

For easy rounding, let's call the blood clot 1 in a million. Here's some other fun things that have less than 1 in a million chance of happening:
Odds of being:
-Injured by a toilet: 1 in 10,000
-Killed as a result of a plane crash: 1 in 205,000
-killed by fireworks: 1 in 340,000
-Drowned while taking a bath: 1 in 685,000
-Murdered: 1 in 18,000
Additionally, seeing all 6 of these people are women in fertile ages, it might be linked to birth control in some way. Halting injections is the wrong move here, imo.

My feelings exactly on this. 6 people out of almost 7million. Way to immediately just handicap an option because of scare tactics.I suppose nothing was learned from what happened in Europe with the AZ vaccine, huh? I’m not disagreeing with you, but there is a difference that has to be respected when looking at vaccine side effects and playing with fireworks. The government is backing and promoting these vaccines that are hurting people - albeit a minuscule percentage of people. The government isn’t backing and promoting people to play with fireworks and Jason Pierre-Paul themselves. For easy rounding, let's call the blood clot 1 in a million. I was with you until this part. If the halt is to allow them to test the effects of the shot on people on birth control, it does give them the opportunity to apply a warning label, if you will, to the shot. Perhaps they only start giving the shot to men and women not on BC.Source of the post Additionally, seeing all 6 of these people are women in fertile ages, it might be linked to birth control in some way. Of course I know nothing about how long it would take to conduct such a trial, so perhaps I'm off base here.

I wonder how many people have died in a car accident on their way to get the vaccine... I’d wager it’s more than 6.

Keep giving j&j to men and old people. I don’t disagree with stopping for people that fit the category.I was with you until this part. I dunno man... based on the numbers so far, this halt is going to hurt more people than it'll help.A bad analogy in the Covid thread, don't you think?I wonder how many people have died in a car accident on their way to get the vaccine... I’d wager it’s more than 6.

This is going to cause many people to not get shots too, all over next to nothing.

The government loves shooting itself in the foot and having no continuity among agencies.

Right now it’s over a 1 in 1 million chance. But there may be a good number of those 7 million just who got the shot and are still be in that 1-2 week period where a situation may occur. If the number of blood clots increase and it continues to be seen in young women who are not at high risk for Covid death, then you have severe issues. This pause has to happen to make sure the reward far exceeds the risk which it likely will. Unfortunate but necessary.

Remember, these vaccines are all approved as an emergency vaccine only. They are not fully approved by the government. So they will use extra caution when warranted. I don't know if this would be something that would stop an ongoing trial in non-pandemic times, but my guess is that it would.
Of course these are different times, different circumstances. But the way I think of it is, how many people are still on the fence? Have to imagine a very small %age of people. Those that want the shot, will still get the shot. Those that will never get the shot, this has no impact on them either.
Hopefully the end game in all this is to vaccinate everybody who wants to be vaccinated, wait for a month or two, then open up the world. Too bad if you didn't get the vax, you had your chance. Now you're out there at your own risk. And to be honest, those that don't want the vax probably don't care anyway.
As long as this is the position the government is going to take, I'm ok with them halting the J&J vax for a short period to do some testing. If they are waiting for some magic number of people to be vax'd before opening the world, shame on them. And double shame on them if this halting of the J&J vaccine has any impact on that magical number.
