Thanksgiving Eve is my favorite drinking holiday, easily.

I think Thanksgiving Eve is so popular because you have both the reunion aspect of it, plus (for most, anyway) at least 4 days off post-drinking to recover. You don't get that with a St Paddy's or NYE party. Generally, you've got to suck it up the next day and be ready for work.

Yep, plus Thanksgiving isn't really like Christmas in that all you really have to do is show up, unless you're doing the cooking. Not a whole lot of extra work so you can sleep in and be a piece of crap until noon.

I love going to the Thanksgiving Eve penguins game too.

I've been to every one of these since I moved to Pittsburgh. It's become a tradition for me.

I was out a night or two before they shut everything down. Conference bball tournaments would have been on and I remember watching reruns of old big east tournaments and seeing Kemba Walker cross up Gary McGhee. Sigh

We had a huge weekendlong party at my house in March. People from around the country. COVID was a thing but not really. Feels like years ago, haven't seen most of them since.

You guys made me realize I never go to bars on or around any holidays

Don’t think I’ve ever been for NYE, thanksgiving eve, Xmas, St. Patty’s, July 4 or the Super Bowl

honestly for me I think it’s really just big boxing fights

as I said before I’d much rather be at someone’s house

I think the last time I went to a bar specifically to drink was the last day of the bar exam in 2002. I finished the test, drove back to my apartment in Oakland, walked in to Fuel & Fuddle, and proceeded to drink heavily.

I've promised myself that when I ever get back to Japan, I want to go out one night to one of the entertainment districts and get totally faced. Maybe in 2022 or something like that.

That doesn't sound fun, but wouldn't cause me to hesitate for even a second when it comes to getting the vaccine.
Same.

If you really want to see America's finest, make a comment on a news outlet's FB page about how the Governor was right to shut down bars and restaurants on Thanksgiving eve... hooooooooooooooooo buddy.
Just because you are a loser does not mean everyone is.
Someone made a comment about "it's a simple rule, just follow it" and then this:
Getting into the train to “relocation camps” was also a simple rule. How did that turn out?
or maybe the **** is out of control because democrats like you wear a mask everywhere because your scared to death
^I'm still trying to comprehend that one...
it’s a bullshit lie anyways !
There was also one that must have gotten deleted talking about how he wishes he could line up every single democrat and punch them in the face so that they could get some sense knocked into them...

As someone who spends the late day and winter months with a perpetual cold, I’m already tired of my wife playing “cold or COVID” with me. Gonna be a long winter.

Looks like I'm heading to Pittsburgh for a covid test

Me too man. I usually have a cold from November to March, I call it Daylight Savings Disease. Cold or COVID is not a fun game.

I’m using taste and smell as the determining factors because otherwise my wife would have me in the ICU on a ventilator every time I cough.

Haha I laid down on the couch Saturday late morning and I'm pretty sure she had the first responders loading up their gurney.

Granted thats out of character but I was up all night with the baby.

This. My sinus's are perpetually jacked, so even smell is touch and go normally. So taste and temperature are my go to's

this used to be me but once I stopped working with the public, colds and such (knock on wood) have been few and far between. sinus issues on the other hand.....

Wife is on 3rd day of runny nose and tickle in throat. She requested whiskey today so I'm thinking things are just a cold and keeping fingers crossed things don't get worse. Its very annoying playing covid or cold.

You crew had recent exposure though, which would make me even more worried. Our neighbors just got over it, but otherwise our neighborhood has been pretty good.

True. Our exposure ended up being second hand (kind of). A mother tested positive. My wife watches her daughter one day a week and that day she watched her is when the mother started symptoms (mother never dropped off, so we weren't in direct contact with her). Technically the daughter would be within the contagious period and at our house for the entire day, but a week later and it's been nothing but runny noses. Hopefully that's a good sign.

Re: the AstraZeneca vaccine:
Sarah Gilbert, the vaccine's creator, had faith in its efficacy from the start; her triplets participated in the UK trial.
