Got on to Giant Eagle website at 7:45 AM, was told I needed to wait 45 min, at 8:50 I got through and no appointments available.
Was this for the mass vaccine clinic at Heinz Field?
They have one tool for their whole system so the clinic plus stores
Oh I thought they were separate. There are two options here: https://www.gianteagle.com/pharmacy Schedule a Vaccine and Vaccine Clinics
Good catch, thanks. I saw the big "Scheduling your vaccine appointment" and looked there, missed the icon above it :face:

Wait time now "more than an hour..." we'll see.

Awesome! Report back afterward. I'm really interested to see how well they handle the mass site.

Looks like they're out of appointments. Wish I would have noticed the clinic as well. I also was on early this morning but didn't see the clinic option

Howley. That's where I'm going tomorrow. Liberty Beer is across the street. Good selection if you're in the mood.

Drop Mom off and let her fend for herself in line. You can get Dad to L'ville in plenty of time. I believe in you, mac. :fist:

Previous owners of our house did all the renovating and whatnot, complete set of appliances by Pacific Sales which is owned by Best Buy. We decided to buy some pedestal bases for our W/D and look into having a service call for sort of a general check up on our stuff. So yesterday, for the first time since last March, I set foot in a non-essential retail establishment that I reasonably might have gone to of my own volition if not for the pandemic.

It honestly felt weird.

At least you have the option of going out. Just found out that my sister in law, who lives in assisted living, cannot leave her building until further notice. The entire building has been vaccinated, and has been for 3 weeks.

Initially they said they would be quarantined for 2 weeks post second shot, then it was three weeks, now it’s “whenever we say so.” How is this legal?

Fully vaccinated people can gather individually with minimal risk, Fauci says
https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/cor ... eb3411ac70
"You can start getting together as individual people, even though the risk is not zero, the risk becomes extremely low when you have both parties vaccinated," said Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.

“My professional judgement is that when my daughter wants to come in here and she is doubly vaccinated, I’m going to have her over to the house, and I’m going to give her a big hug that I haven’t been able to do for a year,” Fauci said.
He should've been saying this from the start.

The vaccinations. There was a lot of talk of vaccines not necessarily being the end of restrictions, specifically masking, gathering, distancing. Which created a "well, what the **** is the point then?" attitude. I would've rather the message had been "vaccines mean all this bullshit ends." I think we discussed it on here before and I was in the minority, though.

Is it? No recommendations from the CDC and the studies, AFAIK, aren't complete yet.

You are in the minority, because that's a very bad take. I think we'd all rather had that message, but that's not how it works.

Saying fully vaccinated people can congregate in twos and threes with minimal risk is not the same thing as saying "all this bullshit ends". None of this - in the broader context - comes close to being at an end until we get probably around 70% of the population inoculated. Which probably means most of 2021.

... but 70% of the population being vaccinated means this bullshit ends. So, vaccines mean this bullshit ends. Obviously it starts small with one or two vaccinated people congregating. I'm not saying I wanted them to say that if you get vaccinated then personally it's over for you and all bets are off. I'm saying the messaging was vaccines didn't necessarily mean the end of restrictions, even when all people get it (which won't happen I know).

And yes, it is pretty new information that the vaccines mitigate transmission risk as well as severity of infection. So saying you can get together in small groups of fully vaccinated people is new science. (As of just a week or so ago)

I recently sold a car (private party). After we agreed on the price, the buyer wanted to do a handshake to seal the terms. Absentmindedly, I shook his hand and then I felt icky until I could get to a sink to wash up.
