COVID-19

Postby robbiestoupe » Wed Apr 08, 2020 10:54 am

What's everybody's TP situation? We are fine, but starting to wonder if we'll eventually run out. Every store I go to is completely out, including online stores.

Gonna need a shaf bidet or use a garden hose in about a month.
Apparently if you hit a store as early as possible, most are stocked up on TP. Just by pure luck, we stocked up on TP from Costco a week or so before the lockdown.
Don't think this is true, as I've been to the store first thing 2-3 times now. I truly think manufacturers can't keep up. Or the early birds they are letting in first are hoarding.

r/COVID19pgh has a daily grocery store report thread. In today's thread, Market District Shadyside had TP, paper towels, and even Clorox wipes. Giant Eagle Century III also had TP. Those reports were made 2 hours ago.

I got a pack from Sam's, of Quilted Northern. Should be good for a month-ish still. I usually get MEmber's Mark brand though. Who TF uses Quilted Northern? It's like half as wide as normal TP.

Cranberry Target had TP yesterday. Four packs of house brand “normal size” rolls that they were limiting to one per customer.

Also tried to have groceries picked up from GE. Past 3 days I've logged in, no pickup times have been available.

@robbiestoupe I know with Walmart pickup, we go right on at midnight and we’re able to get a slot within a day or so.

I've heard that slots open up for a week out at midnight. I actually had luck just checking every hour. All of a sudden about 10 slots opened that were previously marked as sold out. Not sure how that happened. If that doesn't work, you can also use Instacart, though you're limited to Costco/Target/Shop n Save/Aldi/CVS.

First off, you need $35 worth of groceries, which I don't have now since I just went to the store and bought most of the stuff.

Secondly, I'm in bed by 9:30. 3 kids n'at.

Finally, we were duped by an Amazon seller who apparently "sold" us TP. Got an email a week later saying they no longer had an account. Luckily Amazon refunded us.

If it comes down to it, I'll pilfer some sandpaper rolls from work. A couple of us are supposed to go in sometime in the next week for critical lab work.

Giant Eagle in Shaler had enough at 5pm yesterday that they were stocking it on end caps. I didn't bother picking any up because I figure that's a sign that the silliness is coming to an end. I have maybe 12 rolls in the house.

"We do want to know the truth about every death at home, but it's safe to assume that the vast majority are coronavirus related," he said. "That makes it even more sober, the sense of how many people we are losing."
While sad, I hope they test the people to see if they actually had COVID-19 before counting them as having died of COVID. While obviously most of these people wouldn’t have died in their homes if there wasn’t this pandemic, I am very doubtful that most died of coronavirus. I would bet most people aren’t going to the hospital that need to because of being afraid of getting covid.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention counts only deaths in which the presence of the coronavirus is confirmed in a laboratory test. “We know that it is an underestimation,” agency spokeswoman Kristen Nordlund said.

No ****. Same thing with the flu. They have their confirmed and then at the end they give an estimated range of deaths. This should be no different in calculating. You keep posting these articles like a gotcha or "stop downplaying it!" When that's not what anyone here is doing. Stop with the partisan ****.

we bought a giant pack at Sam's back in early February so we're good for awhile. if you have an Aldi near you I've heard they have rolls first thing in the AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, limit of 2 packs.
I haven't had the chance to check the accuracy of this but friends say it works. YMMV
https://relish.com/stock-checker

also have seen on NextDoor app that some folks are buying HUGE packs from janitorial supply places and then selling at cost to neighbors. not the most lux TP but it's better than nothing.

I also think places like Target are refusing online orders of toilet paper even when it shows as available for shipping. That's **** stupid if true.
THANK YOU!!! I've been saying this for weeks! places like Target, Walmart, Kroger, Sam's say "in-store purchase only" for TP right now when shipping it could keep us all at home. makes no sense.
