Will this be the end of snow days? Just have class online instead. All the infrastructure will be there except maybe in the more rural or poor communities without proper internet connection or equipment.
I doubt it. There are a number of accommodations that have to be made to serve kids with special needs as well as kids that don’t have school provided technology (that’s all elementary kids in our district). Probably too much extra to cover just one day.

Wife got pulled to the floors twice a week starting 2 days ago. Cared for a patient all day Monday and first half of yesterday. Patient was taken to COVID unit for testing to rule it out due to symptoms. Next 7 days waiting for that result to come back is going to be a fun ride.

My wife goes back to work in 2 weeks after her maternity leave is up. She's very nervous having to go back to working in hospitals.

Would she have been sufficiently protected? (PPE)

I go back into the office next week for my 2 week shift. I'm not super thrilled about it, but it is what it is.

How TF is it still taking that long to get results. Absurd.

She was in typical PPE but not N95, only surgical mask. Patient has pneumonia with a bunch of other issues, but when she spiked a fever 5 days into her hospital stay, that's what made them test the patient. Based on history and contact the patient says to have had, I'm doubting it myself, but she's a wreck right now.

Good luck, and I assume she wouldn't be able to get a test unless this patient is positive?

I'm hoping that would be the case. They aren't even treating her as exposed right now so she'll be right back in the hospital tomorrow.

At work, we start every meeting with a "safety message".

I am so sick of hearing about social distancing and washing your hands. Come on people get some new safety messages.

It is a catch 22 that my girlfriend is also in right now. There is nothing you or i or they or even management can do about it. It is no fun, but you are just going to have to adjust to life with someone who is exposed to positive and probably-maybe-but-not-sure positive patents.

As the mandalorian said, this is the way.

It needs to be repeated because people are stupid. I would not want the messages to stop.

https://www.npr.org/sections/coronaviru ... s-covid-19
"We do want to know the truth about every death at home, but it's safe to assume that the vast majority are coronavirus related," he said. "That makes it even more sober, the sense of how many people we are losing."
While sad, I hope they test the people to see if they actually had COVID-19 before counting them as having died of COVID. While obviously most of these people wouldn’t have died in their homes if there wasn’t this pandemic, I am very doubtful that most died of coronavirus. I would bet most people aren’t going to the hospital that need to because of being afraid of getting covid.

IHME models were updated again. PA's peak was pushed back to April 13 but the projected deaths were dropped to 969. Resource usage was dropped even further.

US average peak is in 3 days on April 11 and total deaths (by 08/04) is ~60k.

What's everybody's TP situation? We are fine, but starting to wonder if we'll eventually run out. Every store I go to is completely out, including online stores.

Gonna need a shaf bidet or use a garden hose in about a month.

Apparently if you hit a store as early as possible, most are stocked up on TP. Just by pure luck, we stocked up on TP from Costco a week or so before the lockdown.

I have enough for a few months, I think, but I worry about that, too. Not nearly enough is being done by manufacturers, IMO.

I also think places like Target are refusing online orders of toilet paper even when it shows as available for shipping. That's **** stupid if true.
