Source of the post Beaufort County and the city of Bluffton - near Hilton Head - ended their mask mandates in time for the RBC Heritage golf tournament this week.
I'm still shocked that they had one in the first place.
Bluffton is populated by affluent mid Atlantic transplants. It’s not actually the south.
I was shocked to see that Bluffton has the highest number of retirees or people over 65 in SC. I had no idea. I knew it was a popular retirement destination, but bigger than Charleston, Columbia, or Greenville? Guess not.

It's basically just Hilton Head. There's not much of a different feel on island vs off island unless you're on the beach, imo.

The closer you get to Hilton Head, the quicker the housing prices jump. Almost double in some areas.

Yep, and it got exponentially worse last spring. Lots of carpetbaggers from the Philly-NJ-NYC moved down there to work remotely.

Low interest rates didn't help either...

Pfizer CEO says third Covid vaccine dose likely needed within 12 months
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/15/pfizer- ... onths.html
“We are studying the durability of the antibody response,” he said. “It seems strong but there is some waning of that and no doubt the variants challenge ... they make these vaccines work harder. So I think for planning purposes, planning purposes only, I think we should expect that we may have to boost.”

Boosters are going to certainly be a regular thing until the whole world gets vaccine access. It's just the way of things. One of the reasons why "natural" herd immunity was never an option here.

Can do a crap load of diplomacy by sending some of it to other countries.

Of course, shifting doses from where demand is low to where demand is high should be done as well.

This is not a hard problem to solve
I know someone who got their first shot because they had a friend at a UCLA Medical office and they were getting ready to close down the clinic for the day and still had doses. So they were instructed to call friends and basically say "If you can get here by 7 pm, you can get shot one and we'll schedule you for shot 2."
