PPS finally changed their masking policy to follow CDC community guidelines. Since Allegheny Co. is considered "low," masks will become optional starting next week. I feel like they're one of the last school districts in PA to drop the mandate.

Our teacher sends photos of the class every few days, and I noticed that my daughter still wears her mask in most of them. We told her weeks ago that she doesn't have to, but it has never been a big deal with her.

The extreme anti-maskers would equate that with child abuse.

Welp, oldest daughter tested positive over the weekend. Outside of a stuffy nose, she feels fine. But there was a small outbreak in her class, and my wife decided to test her.

*she is vaccinated, so I guess according to the rules she can go back after testing negative and symptoms are gone

My boss's family came down with COVID. So she's going to Vegas where they live to take care of them. Her mom and aunt are in their 80s.

I work as an official for an amateur sports car organization and we had our big spring race two weekends ago. My job is great, I work mostly by myself in a big open field. But they have lots of folks in the 'tower' all weekend monitoring and controlling the race. Tuesday a release went out saying that all of those people, who sat in a glass cube together for three days, have the 'rona.

Yeah it seems like it’s circling again. My folks just got over it. My brother is currently dealing with it. My wife was a close contact last week but after 7 days and no symptoms we’re probably in the clear.

Yeah, seems there has been an uptick in the last 2 weeks or so. There are multiple people at work out positive, same with my wife, and there is a little outbreak at school right now, with my oldest being positive.

I'm headed to a conference tomorrow, first time this one has been held in person since 2019. I'm sure the bulk of the attendees are vaccinated and boosted, but I dug a mask out for the occasion. Ugh.

Just posted in the health and fitness thread. I had a really great 2 weeks with no anxiety, which has lead to reduced frequency/intensity of my twitching and tremors. Felt pretty close to "normal".

However, Saturday morning I woke up with some anxiety, and it has been on and off over the last 2 days. Not as intense or long lasting as before, but it's kind of disappointing as I thought I was out of that phase. This is picking up some of the twitching/tremor, so I'm trying to avoid getting in that cycle again. Hopefully it's just a blip.

It's just frustrating because unlike before when I didn't know what the hell was going on with me and had a ton of worry, I honestly haven't been worried about anything of significance or had anything on my mind. So this anxiety is popping up out of nowhere.

Unless honestly watching the Pens and getting anxious during the games have triggered this.

COVID-19

I've noticed that since I had covid I haven't been able to handle my stress and anxiety as well as I previously have been able to.

It might just be a perfect storm of recovering from COVID toward the end of the semester stress for my wife and work stress (mostly travel related) for me, and cold and flu season for my kid all culminating in an overflow of something that I'm having difficulty handling, but it feels like this is stuff I would have been able to handle in the past and now I'm not able to.

It's really weird.

You aren't the only one. My doctor has mentioned he has seen this in a lot of people, stress, anxiety, depression, more and more from people that have had COVID. There's also been a few local and national articles about this as well.

There is not way they can prove it, but it seems like a Long COVID symptom in a lot of people. The virus messes with the brain. Hopefully it's not a permanent thing and eventually the brain heals. But no one knows.

I am very happy that I don't suffer from any of that extra curricular. I've noticed myself more anxious for it to be nice outside so I can enjoy the weather, but it's not game-breaking for me, by any means.

Yeah, didn't hear much of COVID for a while, and then last 2 weeks, seems to be blowing up again. It's going to be the new normal.

Definitely circulating everywhere. Wife tested positive the other day (wouldn't have even tested if she didn't find out other teachers at her school had it)... her 3rd time having covid lol. Both boys were fevered for a day but we didn't even think to test. Guess we're probably part of the problem.
