COVID-19
After a family reunion about 10 members of my extended family all tested negative after getting a sore throat and cough. Then we all tested positive sometime after day 4.
I spread it to a friend of mine the day i ended up developing a minor symptom. Seemed like our at home tests weren't picking it up until it was full blown but it also seems like it's most infectious when it's minor (and coming up negative). Kinda makes it moot.
That was the first time I had it (late June). Didn't really have symptoms except a bad sore throat for a few days. Felt great and was exercising for about 5 days before finally testing negative.
I am developing symptoms again this week though. I guess I should be pretty well protected since I just had it.

Because we want to do 'things' in what we believe is a responsible way. If we ever test positive at home, we'll shut down for a few days.WhyNeither of us have had it. And we've been testing pretty regularly for several months now, burning through those at-homes.
Mrs Tif's employer requires an on-site negative rapid test to enter campus, regardless of vax status.

No it isn't.At-home testing when you don't have symptoms is almost as baffling as not testing when you do have symptoms.
It's a minimal amount if effort in a home with an immunocompromised occupant with reduced capacity to specifically fight respiratory disease. If sticking a swab up our noses a couple times a week gives us peace of mind to go out and about and do stuff, so be it.
I'm still the only one doing regular errand running to minimize potential contacts.

If you are living with someone who is immunocompromised that makes more sense to be cautious. No it isn't.At-home testing when you don't have symptoms is almost as baffling as not testing when you do have symptoms.

If it's just a normal household with no one like that..then it seems silly to me.

It was my throwaway reply to his original post that sparked it. I didn’t expect it to be a thing. He’s free to waste his tests on all the false negatives he wants. Why are we even still talking about this. Let tif do what he feels is right and move on.
Let’s talk about Shyster not testing despite being sick during the height of Omicron wave instead.

So they’re saying you don’t have to isolate after exposure… which was already the recommendation if you were vaxxed. The guidelines for Covid positive folks are still quarantine for 5 days then you’re good to go if you’re fever free without meds. Same as before.
No school in Pittsburgh was doing routine daily testing. They also weren’t requiring quarantine unless you had symptoms. CDC also dropped the 6 ft recommendation which hasn’t been a thing for at least a year.Perhaps the biggest education-related change is the end of the recommendation that schools do routine daily testing, although that practice can be reinstated in certain situations during a surge in infections, officials said.
The CDC also dropped a “test-to-stay” recommendation, which said students exposed to Covid-19 could regularly test instead of quarantining at home to keep attending school. With no quarantine recommendation, the testing option disappeared too.
Yup same as last year as well. This literally changes nothing.Masks continue to be recommended only in areas where community transmission is deemed high, or if a person is considered at high risk of severe illness.

They stopped recommending social distancing too.
Anyone still behaving like this isn't over has separation anxiety at this point.

When my family had covid in January real bad, I somehow never got it and had no symptoms. And I was around them a lot in the early stages.
This time around, I had a light positive stripe and had no symptoms.

Do you know your blood types? Just curious if it follows a trend that’s out there about blood type variation and catching covid. When my family had covid in January real bad, I somehow never got it and had no symptoms. And I was around them a lot in the early stages.

I recall the early studies saying that B and O were the least likely to get infected, but that it didn't appear to affect the severity. I'm B+, and my wife is O something, which means my daughter is either B or O.Do you know your blood types? Edit: Of course, now I found another study that showed B and AB as least likely to get infected. So I don't think this really matters.

I’m pretty sure the data was statistically relevant, but not like a “hey, you got B? You’re immune!!!”

I think the negative rh types were less likely to catch it, but I haven’t read the study or subsequent ones in a while.

I was in a packed, poorly ventilated gym for a high school orientation last night. If I don't get it now...

Where are we on meaningful boosters?
Should I expect to be able to get the updated version this fall?

System upgrades seem to be a go for the fall, yes.
