I think I read in a few states like California the cannabis industry is considered essential. What is different with alcohol?
Probably since it's State run they don't have any pushback from businesses/owners so they can do what they want

Alcohol isn't medicinal for anything but hating your family.

130+ deaths today, and we are like 2 weeks from when social distancing will kick in.

We are about 4-11 days from leveling off. Italy has leveled off this week and we are a week to 10 days behind them.

We are not as bad as Italy either.

Oh just let me enjoy a bit of good news.
What's the good news?
The tweet regarding UPMC's testing resulting in about 92% of the results being negative. No intense outbreak yet, no real strain on our city's hospitals, and social distancing appears to be helping.

Maybe 4-11 days from leveling off in NYC, but clusters are breaking out across the country.

I think NY alone will come close to the numbers in Italy.

Ahh, I didn't see that one. That's good. It seems like PA in general is doing better than average. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Went out today for the first time in two weeks to get a few things. Went to Home Depot, Target and Giant Eagle, all in little Washington. A few surprising things to me. All were fairly busy. I saw only one person wearing a mask in all three stores. Did see some people wearing gloves. Only one store was wiping down self check outs between users, Target. Giant Eagle was out of wipes to wipe your cart when entering. Basically got everything I wanted. Good social distancing everywhere.

Not sure I understand, deaths are proportional to cases, the hospital situation in NY is not better than it was in Italy.

Anything medicinal with recreational marijuana? That and alcohol are to get people high, I think.

New York has 519 deaths to 44k cases. Italy at the same point of 44k cases had 4K deaths. So how is that the same at all?

So right, Italy's death is clearly steeper than anywhere else. But I think it's tough to tell how long the lag is between Italy and NYC. But I do think that they are some time away from when the death rate begins to accelerate.

Can you elaborate? You're a stat guy and have been pretty level headed throughout all this. Troy's post immediately before yours said 2 weeks. He has been a little more on the :scared: side though.
