I, for the first time, have to provide proof of vaccination for a trade show I'm attending. They e-mailed and said it'll be needed to get my badge to attend the conference.

Perhaps I'm boring and don't go anywhere, but people were going nuts over showing proof of vaccination and how it was going to turn into Nazi Germany "show me your papers"... and it just hasn't turned into anything close to the imo.

There's been a lot of back and forth lately in here on the different schools of thought and the one thing that stuck with me that someone said, is that if you're in favor of choice regarding the vaccine and have chosen not to get it, you shouldn't try to influence the choice of others to align with yours.

But because they are completely full of crap and have no valid arguments, the ones I’ve spoken to are very eager to try to convince you that they’re right. A sign of insecurity is this kind of hyper rationalization. So it’s not something they can just button up.

In a bubble, not getting the vaccine and just "trusting your immune system" is fine. In a bubble. We don't live in a bubble, or at least most of us don't live in a bubble.

My wife and I sent an email to the superintendent of our school district, thanking him for everything he is doing and letting him know that he has support. It was utterly shameful to see the way parents were screaming like children at the last school board meeting, all unmasked.

I saw that FL, TX, and 3 or 4 other states have been getting 70% of the regeneron supply because they are pushing that over vaccines.
Yup, and their residents are ending up in the hospital more because of it, but I'm sure it's immigrants, Biden, the sun's fault for this and not just simply doing protective measures.
What level of thermonuclear idiocy must one possess to think treatment is preferable to prevention?

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is a thing. The opposite sort of isn't.

The monoclonal antibody treatment can work as a preventative/prophylaxis after one has been exposed to COVID.

Obviously just getting the damn vaccine is still preferable, but it's not like mab treatment doesn't have a preventative component to it.

It's a post-hoc/reactive thing, though, not preemptive. That's my point.

Send those parents down here. They'd be happy and have plenty of company.

Our school board - in a rare big brain move - still only streams the board meetings, no one is allowed to attend for "COVID spacing issues."

Moderna is more commonly administered in less dense areas and therefore less frequent close contact/spread of covid and therefore less hospitalizations. Solved.

Hmmm.
Yesterday I was told I'm not rural enough.
Today I'm rural enough.

Neat.

Cool. Cool. Daycare shutting our room down for another two weeks again because of covid. Second time it’s happened since June.

I can’t imagine having to deal with daycare through all this ****. Thankfully we’re both work from home still and Junior is still young enough that we’re able to tag team him all day long. Our unvaccinated neighbor, who is an extremely busy hairdresser by trade, started picking up a couple shifts per week at her kids daycare so they can qualify for free tuition. The thought of unknowingly having an unvaccinated dum dum take care of my child is enough to make me want to steer clear of daycares forever.

Was it really a blow? If the experts say it's largely unnecessary for the general population right now, that's fine with me.
