COVID-19

Postby Morkle » Fri Apr 09, 2021 12:14 pm

Driving by hospitals in Philly and seeing a dozen nurses on cigarette breaks at any given moment puts that theory to the test.
Yeah...working in the healthcare industry the last decade-plus (not to mention the pandemic) has both increased my respect for nurses, and also made me realize that the universal acceptance that nurses are infallible paragons of health is silly.
I've got a nurse friend who sells MLM type garbage and is very strongly anti-vaxx. Just disappointing.

Road trip to Philly this weekend. Let's test this vaccine.
Probably want to stay where you are if you want to test it out, given that your numbers are higher...
Even better. I just want out of Pittsburgh for a bit. Haven't left the city limits since August.

I was expecting some arm soreness, but man, it's worse than I expected. I can barely lift my arm above shoulder-level, and definitely woke up a couple times last night.
I’m finally back to where I can sleep on my left side. Sucked that I couldn’t because of the pain previously

Soreness was gone this morning. I can't even feel it if I press on it now.

Eddy Crow interviews founder of #UnmaskPA initiative.

https://fb.watch/4MgT_FV8Dc/

I don't totally disagree with the point of view, and I think as vaccinations go up mask requirements should relax. I usually just have little patience for anyone who doesn't see shades of gray but I didn't dislike the guy like I thought I would, he seems like your typical lifelong small town WPA guy. Got a glimpse of what his overall world view is when he started down a Dr. Seuss got canceled tangent that Crow quickly corrected him on then moved him along.

Kind of wish Crow had gone down a path at some point of- what do you believe COVID is. Also wish he had gone down the path of what exactly it is he wants "the school" to do. For every anti masker that breathes down their neck there's a hardcore can't believe you're asking me to have my kid leave the house during a pandemic-er.

Eddy Crow is one patient mf'er. I don't recommend watching the whole thing but thought it was a little interesting anyway.

If you're anti-mask, it doesn't matter when the mask mandates end (they will end eventually...). They've been calling for them to end since March 2020. The number of "I ain't wearin no damn mask to the grocery store" posts I saw last spring were alarming. It got politicized immediately.

Same with the vaccine. Immediate politicization. The anti-mask and anti-covid vaccine crew seem to be pretty close to a perfect circle diagram.

And I still firmly believe that a lot of this could gave been negated had a certain person simply put America first and championed wearing a mask and getting the vaccine. But here we are.

Hope...
From a deltoid sting
Like viral interception
Binding it, and winding down
The design of it has caught my eye
and roped me in so,
desensitizing and so
immunizing
I am activated

I am...vaccinated!
I am healthy, I am strong!
I am right, I swear I'm white
And that's why I know this song

It was thawed!

Ah, you get the point...

Ol' mikey two shots is ready to sneeze in some buttholes now...

Well, yeah. The type of person that's a hardcore Trump fan is the same kind of person that when an official/doctor/scientist says "Hey, this minor inconvenience to you could help save a lot of people from suffering." Their response is "SUCK MY D*CK NERD!!"

I haven’t found mask wearing to be a “minor inconvenience” and I think it’s been downplayed this whole time.

Masks are legitimately inconvenient and irritating. I wear mine and dislike the experience greatly unless my face is cold.

...but I have glasses. Maybe that’s it.

This would make sense, given that the only time wearing a mask has ever bothered me was when I was wearing sunglasses.

Glasses would be annoying. I don't have glasses and I often forget I'm even wearing it.

I have sort of spectrumy tactile issues. The sensation of mask wearing makes me claustrophobic and I think I’d have trouble doing it all day, tbh.

I have a great respect for people who have lived in these things for the last year.

I have glasses as well... masks are a minor inconvenience. I suppose if you want to be a Karen and discuss your spectrumy tactile issues, you could upgrade them to an inconvenience. Less inconvenient than death though? Most certainly.

Masks with metal nose wires in them help a lot, FWIW.

No, NTP66 - health workers have failed to earn my respect over the last year. Quacks, all of em'

...but i would say my mask-respect for someone making 10 bucks an hour at Quiznos who never gets a break from it is a little different in nature from the surgeon who masks up during non-office hour time (in the before times). but i have immense gratitude for both.

my biggest issue with masks is that I can't hear amazingly well and it is a lot harder for me to hear what people are saying with masks on
