You don’t feel too shitty when you are deadThese last two days have not been fun at all after thinking I was over it. Can't imagine how shitty I'd feel if I wasn't vaxxed.

COVID-19
Local yokels are using the news that the Omicron wave is peaking and things should be getting back to normal next month as PROOF that the whole thing is a conspiracy. Their reasoning? "They're able to predict what's going to happen because they're controlling it!"
I considered trying to explain that they're using modeling from other countries who have already gone through Omicron, then realized it's not worth the effort. Sigh.

I can't speak for what it's like in bumblef**k wherever-the-s**t you live, but in places with people things have very much been reigned in, offices are delaying in-person reopening, asymptomatic positive cases are isolating, and we are still masked up in public.Hey here's a good news article:
Omicron Is in Retreat

Who wants to tell him that school activities haven't been stopped, offices have already reopened, masks came off when the CDC said they should, and asymptomatic vaccinated people don't have to quarantine due to exposure? Other than that, it's an optimistic outlook on what's currently happening with Omicron. This combination [declining cases, lower risks, booster effectiveness] means that the U.S. may be only a few weeks away from the most encouraging Covid situation since early last summer, before the Delta variant emerged.
...
When should schools resume all activities? When should offices reopen? When should masks come off? When should asymptomatic people stop interrupting their lives because of a Covid exposure?

if the previous waves have taught is anything is that this is just delaying the inevitable wave. open up the gates and let everyone get omicron and let this be over withI can't speak for what it's like in bumblef**k wherever-the-s**t you live, but in places with people things have very much been reigned in, offices are delaying in-person reopening, asymptomatic positive cases are isolating, and we are still masked up in public.Hey here's a good news article:

This n95 stuff just seems like a bunch of "lets do something to do something" at this point. It's silly IMO.

Anecdotally, I'd say we're at about 50% masked in stores in the city. The local GE is higher than, say, Costco.Source of the post Everywhere I go I still see masks.

Boris Johnson agrees with this. All we heard was about the UK getting smoked but most of the anticipated NIH issues never came to fruition.if the previous waves have taught is anything is that this is just delaying the inevitable wave. open up the gates and let everyone get omicron and let this be over withI can't speak for what it's like in bumblef**k wherever-the-s**t you live, but in places with people things have very much been reigned in, offices are delaying in-person reopening, asymptomatic positive cases are isolating, and we are still masked up in public.
