I think Wyoming only added 1 case today. It’s not like they aren’t testing either. They have done about 4K tests, which is about 8k per 1 million since they only have like 500k people.

I was checking out land in Wyoming recently. Crazy how expensive it is compared to Maine (which is my #1 destination should I ever move).

I will live in Montana. I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits and she will cook them for me. I will have a pickup truck. Maybe a recreational vehicle. And drive from state to state.

Do they let you do that?

I was gonna post that but didn't wanna take this convo too far off topic. I hope he doesn't regret it down the road but I question that decision
The site is covered in ads now. Knock-off hand sanitizer and thermometers, swim wear, sexy singles.
is it? I just looked after turning off my adblocker and I still didn't see any
I get this from work:

When I go there from home I get auto parts instead of those other products.

why do some states (like GA) not show any recovered? are they just not reporting recovered cases?

They might not be reporting recovered cases. All of that data is highly suspect, particularly the total number of cases. There just isn't enough testing going on to have an accurate count. I figure there are at least twice as many actual cases as are being reported, and it could easily be ten times the cases or more. We don't know.

Oklahoma didn’t start reporting recovered until yesterday.

I remember picking up a realtor magazine when we were in Yellowstone. Was just as surprised as you.

We are buying time until any effective treatment works. If people can just pop a pill like a tamiflu and it keeps a majority of people out of the hospital that would have otherwise required hospitalization, then we won’t need to do as many restrictions.
Thinking about this, I'm don't think this is the case. I don't think people get a pill to combat the flu, right? What would make this virus different where you can treat it with medications?

I really just think this is a case of the extent of the infection for how the person is able to fight the virus off. I think there are going to be cases where people respond to treatment and cases where they don't. I don't imagine there is going to be a treatment that is universal, at least until they have the vaccine.

@columbia had a test today as it appears he has it. He's had body aches, headaches, low grade fever (but no breathing issues) for almost two weeks now. If he truly has it he should be doing better by the time the test comes back.

I saw an article similar to this a few weeks ago, but didn't think much of it because the site that posted it didn't seem terribly legit.

Interesting. I've also seen some articles from researchers where they propose that what the SARS-CoV-2 virus is actually doing in the body is attacking the red blood cells, not necessarily the lungs (or is attacking both the lungs and the blood cells). The hypothesis is that the virus produces proteins that interfere with the ability of the hemoglobin in red blood cells to carry oxygen. The result is something like altitude sickness; no matter how much you breathe you can't get enough oxygen in your blood because the RBCs can't carry it. This piece gives more credence to that theory. This would also mean that transfusions of packed red blood cells could potentially be used as a treatment.

This could also potentially explain the impact of the disease in Italy, as well as the seeming disproportionate impact on African Americans. People of Italian heritage are often carriers of genes for thalassemia, which is a hemoglobin disorder, and many African Americans carry genes for sickle cell disease, which also effects hemoglobin.

This is the article that proposes hemoglobin involvement:
