Getting social media posts about outdoor events that are scheduled locally for the October time frame, and I'm........ feeling cautious optimism about them actually happening.

Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is still scheduled for this year. Looking forward to it as long as Schenley doesn't shut it down.

I thought about getting tickets to Whose Live is it Anyway (had tickets for 9/2020) for September, but the only seats left aren't great. And I can't find anything on their site about limiting seating, so I'm still in an 'avoid shows' mode.

The events I'm talking about are airshows; outdoors, one of which is at the beach. There's ample opportunity for social distancing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still in 'nope' mode, as well, at the moment. But for the first time in a year, I can see a viable path to something like that actually happening 9 months from now and me actually partaking.

I'm no longer in nope mode but I live there because most other people are and I want to respect that. I'm **** ready for this to be over. I'm done. But most other people aren't and that's OK and I'm fine abiding until then. If that makes sense.

I was looking into PGA championship tickets for May (it's in SC). I'd get them if they weren't $200+

My Dad's second shot got moved from this morning to Saturday because of supply problems. Could be worse, I guess.

Might have missed this, but is he going to a MUSC location?

Read today that Pfizer may be recommending to go with a single dose due to it being over 90% effective. Same for Moderna.

It also said that both are effective against all but the SA variants. I don’t know about Moderna, but with the SA and Pfizer, they know it cut the amount of antibodies. I don’t think they know what that means yet, though. It could still wind up being okay.

That’s not surprising considering that the trials show that the younger you are, the higher the effectiveness is with the initial dose. I can see only giving two to the old farts. And meow.

I don't know about your side of the state, but nearly all the folks I know who have received the vaccine have gone to other counties to get them. Our county (York) has been atrocious. Chester, Lancaster, Cherokee, and Union have done great.

My in laws second shot were part of the Moderna issue. They were supposed to get it on Tuesday and now they are waiting for a call, but were given no timeline.

My parents are still scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. But who knows with the supply issues due to weather.

Just went to check my vaccine eligibility. My BMI almost got me there, thought maybe this one time that the way BMI is calculated would help me.

Folks from Lancaster have been coming over the border to get it in NC by the masses. That is probably helping their situation in a big big way. Cherokee, Chester and Union are outside our catchment area, so I don’t have any insight on them.

All I see are people in pure panic mode talking about the end of the world or people in pure chill mode telling everyone it’s basically the flu and to stop worrying. What am I supposed to think?!
In your lifetime, of all the things that people have panicked about...has even a single one of them been worthwhile in the end?

Right. This falls into that category too.
Its been just shy of a year since this thread started. In celebration, I've begun a scan of the earlier pages for some hot takes

I see that there are 19 confirmed cases in Toronto. No surprise there at all with the Asian population.

Me and my wife had pretty bad cold/flu in mid December. I spent a couple days stuck in bed with high fever, trouble breathing and lots of coughing. Neither one of us got checked out by hospital or a doctor but back then no one would have checked anyway. We just luckily got better. Looking back it might have been coronavirus.
Same. I was out of commission for 5 days but tested negative for the flu. Took 45 days for the cough to go away. I find it hard for anything to be worse than that
Joke's on me.
