COVID-19
lol I've had a seasonal cold for the better part of two weeks. Get it almost every year, and this year pollen was incredibly bad around my house. There's no need to test for it, considering the entirety of my family works from home lol.

Nope. I guess the fact that they aren't saying we should get another booster is a good thing, but I'm stressed out right now because we leave in less than 2 weeks for vacation. I'm basically not leaving the house until we head out to the airport.Any heard if they're going to open up another booster for folks our age? I have to fly to california in July, and then vacation two weeks later, and I'm stressing out about losing that vacation to covid.

About time. My cousin and her husband were part of the US trials for this vaccine at least 18 months ago, and it's been approved in multiple other countries already. That cousin (who is a doctor) also told me more than a year ago that that approval would probably be delayed because Novavax is a small company that doesn't have the political/lobbying pull of massive companies like Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer, and neither was it supported by the government like Moderna. Sad to say she was correct.Good news. Still wish this was possible with a single shot, because I think that has always been part of the issue.

We were at a party over the weekend to say farewell to out of town friends who had been visiting. Two of the guests were brothers (friends of friends) who I first met 17, 18 years ago but haven't interacted with for maybe 5 or 6 years now. They are............. I can't stand them. They are just odious and boorish twits of truly uncommon severity. They are emotionally stunned and malformed creatures who evidence zero personal growth since I last saw them. One of them tested positive yesterday and let his friends know.
2+ years into this, and my first confirmed close contacts are these f**ks. Thanks, world.

the rebound is a real thing. to me, its the same thing that happened with the covid vax that were previously covid +. hyper response from immune system. you may feel dumpy for an extra day or two but as you mentioned, preventing hospitalization/death is key. i think weve forgotten that people have, will, and will continue to get sick. it's ok to not feel well, just get treatment and move on@LITT , just realized that you probably didn’t see this…LITT : Have you seen the recent articles on paxlovid and rebounds? Any thoughts on it? To me, preventing hospitalization has to be priority one, and if it means you hav ego test/mask a bit longer to ensure that you don’t spread it, that’s okay.
That said, being able to shorten the period of contagiousness would be huge, if somebody could do that.

It's great. I was worried there for a bit that it was going to really start skyrocketing again. I could use a fun summer.nationally, state, regionally, locally it appears everyone has hit the peak and is descending

Same. Got an email at 4PM yesterday and promptly left my desk sans mask.We had masks mandated for a week, due to the county being in High. Now that it dropped down again, masks are once again optional in office.

At this point, I'm not entirely opposed to this direction. I'd probably wear a mask when in high without being asked, but that's just me.We had masks mandated for a week, due to the county being in High. Now that it dropped down again, masks are once again optional in office.

The only thing that really bothers me about covid anymore is long covid. That, and getting a vaccine for my 2 year old. But since children still have not been hit hard by this virus, even the newer mutations, there isn't much to worry about there either.
