COVID-19
I'm just telling you unless you take extreme measures, these people have businesses to run and many don't have the luxury to turn away money (admittedly idk much about german economics).ICUs are at max capacity thanks to these morons. The alternative would be to lock down everything for everyone.

I hear you. As I said, mistakes have been made at earlier stages of the pandemic.I'm just telling you unless you take extreme measures, these people have businesses to run and many don't have the luxury to turn away money (admittedly idk much about german economics).ICUs are at max capacity thanks to these morons. What should I be rooting for with omicron?
Do I want it to be able to outcompete delta but be more mild?

I don’t think there’s enough data for that just yet.

You underestimate how utterly fed up the vaccinated are with the anti-science bubble. That said, there's a fairly substantial number of people who will get the vaccine thanks to the new rules, people who so far have only been to lazy or indifferent to do so. It isn't nearly as draconian as it sounds. Gestapo would be fun, seeing as how radical anti-vaxxers go on about being treated worse than the Jews in the Third Reich.

He got into yet another argument on the old board (accidentally clicked my link for that instead of here) spouting the same BS and completely misinterpreting/selectively interpreting data. He got called out for it there, too. Hilarious.

Wonder how many dead they are responsible for? These subhumans are complete garbage and I have no reason to tell them apart from the murderers and rapists, I sincerely hope the worst for them. This planet is a better place without them.
What a freaking joke this has become.

Our local hospital has stopped accepting ambulances... they're all being diverted to other locations. 1/5th of the hospital is occupied by COVID patients. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but hospitals don't tend to operate with a ton of extra space. Small disruptions can cause issues... 20% more patients due to a pandemic can cause major problems, like what we're seeing.

UPMC apparently has a policy that they won't divert patients, so Somerset is catching the overflow from other hospitals. Monday there were ambulances from 9 different companies. My friend works in admissions and said the hospital looks like a MASH episode. The ER is overflowing, patients are on gurneys in the halls, etc. Suck a trainwreck. Our local hospital has stopped accepting ambulances... they're all being diverted to other locations. 1/5th of the hospital is occupied by COVID patients. My wife's cousin up there in Bedford, who was spouting off that COVID is a hoax, he's not getting vaxxed, blah, blah, actually sounded somewhat concerned over Thanksgiving when we were up there. His sister in laws brother isn't doing so well (another antivaxer) and I think it actually scared him. So hopefully he and his family will start looking at things differently. Yeah, don't hold your breath. Somerset has the highest per 100K case rate in the area, 90+ cases yesterday, hospitalizations up 28%, and almost everyone still acts like it's a big joke. The acquaintance I mentioned yesterday whose family is sick but won't get tested posts almost hourly updates about horrible she feels, yet her husband is still making comments like, "Glad we didn't get jabbed or we'd probably be dead by now. Our immune system will get us through."
