COVID-19

Postby nocera » Thu Dec 02, 2021 10:31 am

I'm at 65 every night (except booster night). Am I dying?
Nah that's normal.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-life ... q-20057979
A normal resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute.
Oh so you guys are all dying. That's good news.

Oh, good. I'm normal. Well, as far as resting heartrate is concerned.

You forgot to paste the paragraph after that one... ;)
Generally, a lower heart rate at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. For example, a well-trained athlete might have a normal resting heart rate closer to 40 beats per minute.

I used to be a long-distance runner until about two years ago, and now I train on the Peloton a few days a week. I'm carrying too much fat but my heart health is actually pretty decent. I just did full lab workups recently and everything was in a good range aside from Vitamin D.

My resting heart rate in the town hall I'm watching is 72, but I wouldn't say this is normal right now.

:D

I run 15-20 miles/week, and my VO2 max is in the Top 10% of men my age. So I am certainly not a professional athlete, but I am definitely in far better shape than most hamplanets in their late 30s (that was solely for @dodint)

I've been in the 40s for a while now. It was actually cool looking at the last two years when I really picked up my running, watching my RHR rate fall through the 50s to where it is now.

I look at the heart like a car. The more miles you put on it every day, the faster it is going to break down. The way I look at it, my heart is not working as hard so it should last longer.

I have a similar thought. I know it's 'wrong' as it's also similar to how Trump thinks (he thinks he's a battery that runs out of juice eventually), but I figure my heart only has so many beats in a lifetime so if my heart rate is lower then I'll eek out a few more good years.

But I'm also pushing it over 170bpm on the bike so I'm probably just full of ****.

My resting heart rates usually sits between 55-60.

I definitely have too much fat though. People say my cardio is pretty good for a big dude.

Most people will be fine with it and even welcome it. Of course, none of this would be necessary if the government didn't completely mishandle certain things in earlier stages of the pandemic. What confounds things is the Germans being a bunch of morons rooted in romanticism and mysticism, which is why the vaccination rate is only at about 70% among adults. Germans and Americans are a lot alike, they cling to their bullshit national narratives even if it kills them.

This of course would require owners of not "the most essential businesses" to turn away revenue

You underestimate how utterly fed up the vaccinated are with the anti-science bubble. That said, there's a fairly substantial number of people who will get the vaccine thanks to the new rules, people who so far have only been to lazy or indifferent to do so. It isn't nearly as draconian as it sounds. Gestapo would be fun, seeing as how radical anti-vaxxers go on about being treated worse than the Jews in the Third Reich.

Right. So you'll crack down on the business who services unvaxxed, which will then come down as being anti-capitalism and then the economy will tank and you'll lose control of both houses and Hitler will get re-elect...oh wait, I'm projecting again :slug:

ICUs are at max capacity thanks to these morons. The alternative would be to lock down everything for everyone.

Locally 12% of covid tests are coming back positive and hospitalizations are up 28% over the past two weeks, yet I had to go into a local home improvement store last night and I was the only person wearing a mask.

An acquaintance and her family who are anti vax/anti mask/covid is a hoax types have all been sick for the past week. The woman says she's never been so sick from the flu. Someone suggested she might have covid and the woman said she wasn't going to get tested because "everything is covid even the cold!" She was sick last weekend but went to a local light up night event, all the while telling everyone how awful she felt. Thankfully it was outdoors, but the fact that she's too stupid or too selfish (or both) to stay home and stay away from people is mind boggling.
