it’s funny because of course there’s nothing in the bible (or any religious text) that says vaccines are bad but the stupid **** interpretations for some reason lead them to that

religious exemptions are dumb no matter what. Churches should pay taxes and everyone should get the vaccine
Again, the antivaxers that are claiming religious reasons is the whole dead baby in the shot thing. That is their sticking point. Which IMO is dumb.
I know that but the dead baby thing isn’t specified in the Bible either. Same thing with masturbation, priests not being able to marry, etc.

I am areligious but I do appreciate the role of religion in peoples lives; an attempt to make sense of a nonsensical universe. But organized religion is bad

on another note, my antivax aunt got the vax because of a vaccine mandate (she’s a nurse). I’m disappointed that she’s an antivax Trumper but I’m happy she’s not dumb enough to get fired over it

But they don’t have that.

I'm actually interested to hear now just how much protection a 2 shot person has now after 6 months of the second shot - based on classifications. Does the MRNA stuff really die that quickly?

A study in Sweden found significant waning, to the point where the Pfizer and Astrazenica vaccines showed essentially no effectiveness against disease at six months and the Moderna vaccine dropped to around 60%. The waning of effectiveness was faster for men, older individuals, and individuals with comorbidities. Vaccine efficacy against severe disease was better maintained. This study bolsters other studies in Israel and elsewhere that show waning efficacy against infection.

That matches a TikTok person who has been measuring the antibodies in himself after the vaccines. He saw that it went down 30% in the first couple months and then the decay slowed and he saw 40% loss (60% antibodies left) after 7 or 8 months.

Btw, can they test for flu and covid in the same swab? Taking the kid tomorrow to get tested and checked out. Had a flu case in her room and a covid case in the room next door at daycare. Hope they can just do both tests at once.

true dat. I used to work for the Lutheran church's local Synod office. they paid me minimum wage which was $4 per hour. they laid me off right after they spent $90k on a new phone system.
oh, and I couldn't even collect Unemployment because as a religious organization they weren't required to pay into it.
I know I've said this before, but it really sucks that the prosperity gospel schmucks (Osteen, Bakker, etc.) and the Catholic Church (and other megachurches) have destroyed the reputation of smaller churches.

I've been attending my Presbyterian Church for eight years. I'm hardly a model Christian but I have a strong faith. I was recently nominated for deacon, and it's been an eye opening experience.

Last Sunday, the first day of Advent, 113 total worshipers attended the two services. Despite the modest size of the congregation, the amount of good works and giving the church does utterly blew my mind. It seemed impossible that this modest EPC church in rural Eastern Lancaster could pour this much money back into the community. No strings attached. Really.

I loathe the Osteens of the world more than anyone because they turn people away from God. It's evil. But ending tax exemption for all churches would do nothing but destroy the small to medium sized community churches and let the mega churches dominate.

I'm surprised more people don't understand that. Ending tax exemption would allow Christianity in America to be dominated by the very mega churches that they detest so much. And it would destroy our ability, and the ability of thousands of other modest churches like ours, to channel resources to small communities that need it the most.

Sorry for the rant, I used to think this way but now I find it disturbing that I hear "make churches pay taxes" so often, without qualifiers. I know some people hate all religion, and that's ok (you won't get any proselytizing from me), but that would hurt a lot of people (many of whom never attend church and don't plan to any time soon).

Back to covid talk :)

We have one of those fancy smart beds that tracks your biometrics while you sleep. I was looking over the monthly report and noticed one night where my heart rate spiked to an average of about 15 more beats a minute and my breath rate was about 5 breaths more a minute. These are normally freakishly consistent so the spike was noticeable. Turns out it was the night I got my booster. No idea why or if it was a coincidence. It went back to normal the next night.

Not to get this off topic, but what do you notice if you puff some rich greens with your heart rate ?

Funny you ask. Short term, definitely brings the heart rate up a little. I've gotten much better at controlling it though.

As far as after I go to sleep, no difference in my RHR.

I feel like I'm the same, much more noticeable with the rate going up with flower over cartridge for whatever reason

Is it just me or does 44 seem really low?

I'm usually in the low to mid 50's overnight...according to my garmin at least. Sometimes I dip below 50...or at least I did when I was in peak shape (which is not now haha).

Mid-40s is about right for me, but I've been told by docs that I have a slightly slower resting heart rate than average.

Fitbit, bruh.

Looks like mine is high. Not a shock. My BP is good, so the anxiety of the last several months is killing me evidently.
